30A/C is great, plenty of legroom, I was riding 30A from SFO-HKG and I could go to bathroom without bother the guy in 30C. Only one thing is not so perfect, the engine is next to 30A and I need to wearing Bose headphone to sleep. In my 2nd trip back to SFO I am sitting in 32E, it's less noise than sitting in 30A and I don't need the Bose.

Was scheduled to be on CX801 yesterday in J when it cancelled.... well, delayed from 4:00pm on July 10 to 11:00pm on July 11. CX staff were able to get me on the regularly scheduled 4:00pm departure today - but it looks like the only seats available are the dreaded 11DG on the A350-1000. How horrible are these seats and is there a possibility that CX is holding any other seats for assignment at the airport?

......I strongly recommend against, personally. I've sat on the 35G/35K J class a ton. It's probably 50+ flights. Maybe 100. I know I'm not alone in here with such experiences but I'm just saying that because my opinion isn't based on a one or two off observation. A lot more short haul than long, but I think it's irrelevant, to me those seats absolutely suck. Btw, my very last flight on 35G last week to SIN, a mainland lady in 11D was complaining to the staff about it! No vacant seats in J to move her to. She was not pleased and complaining about the bathroom proximity and smell during boarding. I usually sit near the front, 12A 14A etc and witnessed the uncomfortable exchange. Hard to blame her because it's true you're basically half sitting in the bathroom with those seats, and if the galley curtain is closed it also flows into your seat area. I think it's a disgrace CX sells them, same with 77K the minicabin D seat that is next to the large lav. But I think the a350 11D/G seats are worse.

My personal opinion is avoid at all costs and I'd probably refuse to fly in them unless it was a total emergency and I simply had to be on the plane to make the flight.

I was very lucky and just at boarding 23A opened up and they were able to swap me into that seat. Onboard I did see that there are curtains between the bathrooms and 11DG but still not enough of a barrier IMHO.

Wow. I had a flight last mid-autumn on a 35K where an ID pax was given 11D (this turned out to be significant later on, as there was a disruptive passenger on my flight, threatening to lodge a complaint against the ISM. I offered the ISM to write in a feedback she can use to counter any such complaint, but she declined, saying 11D will back her writeup).

Yea those two seats are regularly held for ID ticket pax. But, they definitely sell them sometimes. How often I'm uncertain, but I've definitely seen situations where paying pax are there. (I used to think they didn't sell them at all to normal pax, but that's clearly wrong.)

Hi all, first ever flights on CX coming up next month, three on A350's - traveling with my wife and 11yo daughter in J. Originally booked in Jan but had to make a date change so took what seats I could as a bit more limited availability now:

BRU-HKG 14 A/D/G
HKG-DPS (777)
SIN-HKG 12D 14A/D
HKG-BRU 18D 19A/D

Our 11yo is an independent traveller, we will probably let her have the window seat on each flight - as you can see I have a combination of two middles next to each other and two middles in consecutive rows. Is there any preference or advantage of either combination? There are a few seats still available so may be able to change if there is a better layout/rows for a family of 3!

Definitely two seats next to each other, so you can see & communicate with each other during the flight

Unless you need to frequently assist your wife to go to the toilet or something, in which case choose two seats sharing the same aisle

a comment on 59DEG. Those bulkhead seats have extra leg room but people keep passing there to go to the toilet, which can be quite annoying. Yesterday I saw staff trying to prvent passengers of doing that but of course they can't do that all the time on a 13 hours flight. So I would avoid those seats

CX definitely sells the seat to revenue passengers (aka on the 46 J seat A35K they don't just sell 44 J seats, they sell all 46 J seats. (I have seen their internal inventory level vs GDS availability).

11DG (along with 12AK) are blocked for seat pre-selections, and usually blocked for OLCI selection as well. They aren't "held for ID pax" per-se. However, because the seats are blocked for selection, they usually ended up being the last 2 seats to be assigned. If a flight is full full, then some unlucky revenue pax which did not pre-select a seat will be assigned to those seats. The reasons why 11DG are more often than not filled by ID pax are solely because they are the last people to get assigned seats, with 11DG being the final seats to be assigned usually.

A further data point on row 21 in the A359. Quite a bit of foot traffic coming to the lavatories from the premium eco cabin. J cabin is full so could not choose any other seats. Meal service also super slow…probably because of full J.

Is that premium economy foot traffic more pronounced on the starboard side where the toilet is (through the G&K seats), or are both aisles used indiscriminately?

Am travelling with my daughter and selected 21 & 22 A because MrLapLap will be just behind us in the premium economy cabin.

Both sides I am afraid. I was on 21 A. My daughter and wide on the two middle seats. And crew did not seem to do much. Only once or twice I saw a passanger walking back to Premium eco cabin as if told off.

To be honest I would avoid these seats at all costs. Not just this but also served meals last..and crew did not seem to proactively offer to serve child meal earlier either. I asked for lunch and they obliged but for dinner I forgot to ask and it felt like forever.

On the positive side it does feel calmer when no foot traffic around from crew or passengers.

Which is a better option between seats 59C and 59K on the A35K?
