Yes, this I'm aware of. But I was under the impression that after derating, this mission was waaaaayyy beyond the range envelope of that plane...like by thousands of miles, empty.

Obviously I missed something with those birds. Totally missed something!!

You'd be surprised how much of a difference can be made. BA sent a 777-200ER over 17,000km, 4,000km more than published, and that was with some passengers onboard.

Looking at charts the early 772s should be good for a little over 13,000km.

I think, the "de-rating" is a paper one, with lower MTO/MLW, to pay lower airport fees and has nothing to do with the engines. Also, the non-ER versions probably do have less fuel cells, which does limit the range some 20%. Totally empty, flying at FL430, fuel can be to the max, the range will be enormously extended. Without passengers, without freight, without interior, the plain can easily be 50-60 tons lighter and there you have your range. CX not even has to change the paperwork, to load the fuel to the brim for the needed range.

May I know if HNO is in 77P or 73Z?

mr.supakrit Sep 20, 2018 12:03 pm

B-HNO returned HKG today - the aircraft is now in the new livery and in 77P configuration. (396 economy)

B-KQD left HKG and landed at XMN this morning. Looks like another aircraft being charged to 77K.

B-KQD will also be painted in new livery as well.

Are you sure that HNO is in 42/396 configuration?

Looks like CX is doing get-one-replace-one.

B-HNB landed at XMN and will fly to Pima air and space Museum soon like B-HNL does.

A report said it will be scrapped in LDE.

Yes, A6-EMT, HNU-to-be, has arrived XMN.

mr.supakrit Sep 22, 2018 2:54 pm

B-KPJ has returned HKG yesterday. The aircraft has updated the IFE system on the plane to the latest version of StudioCX. It might have been re-configured into 77A.
