773 Y seats
Just did CX734 from SIN to HKG a couple of weeks back and was surprised to find the old shell seat in Y, although I notice the J seats had been converted to the new regional ones which generate so much like/dislike.
Can anyone confirm if all the 773's have these awful Y seats? If so I shall try to stick with A330, 772 and 77W aircraft regionally. |

With the impending implementation of 10 abreast seating on the 777's (sans 772 as they'll be gone by 2018), they'll probably get rid of those shell seats for good at least on the 773's. |

All 773's as well as select regional A330's and some in KA have these seats.

Thanks. I'm appalled to hear they're also on regional A330's. For some obscure reason I assumed all of these were only on the old 747's and was unpleasantly surprised to find them on a regional 773.
Now they're looking at a new regional product with beds possibly in a staggered configuration along with the impending implementation of 10 abreast in the back. It's actually about time. Most airlines in the region offer some form of bed whether fully flat or angled flat. |

Any news on the Milan service for the A350?

The A350 fleet is still quite tight. I don't think a new service will be announced / swapped until April next year, post March 27. Currently, there is a time on Mondays when 6/7 A359s are dispatched on long-haul missions. Meanwhile, the next A359 delivered in a few days will not have some seats installed, meaning another 14-21 delay into service after "delivery" because HAECO will need to do seat installation. And on top of that: *On Dec 1 service tightens again slightly, as CX279 resumes Thursday service (Thus service has not operated since 77G switched to 35G on this route last month, due to not enough A359s). So effectively the A359 fleet gets two more long-haul legs/week starting this Thurs. *Also on Dec 1 AKL swaps the A359 service while a 2nd daily is added with 77G (CX197/198 will switch to 77G, CX117/118 will restart with 35G). Practically this shouldn't impact ops too much, although it will mean one less 35G regional round-trip in the afternoon. My *bet* is the next major service increase (Dec 1 notwithstanding) is as scheduled on Feb 1. There will be a quick ramp of service from that point, as CX will have 4-6 more A359s by end of March: -> Feb 1: MEL daily launches -> Mar 1: AKL 2nd flight launches (3x weekly) -> Mar 26: TLV launches (4x weekly) -> Mar 26: YVR 3rd flight launches (3x weekly) |
Perhaps a bit OT.
With the regional 33P, any one know if the PTV in the first row (ie 39) is on the wall or is it in the arm rest? Have a flight coming up and thinking to do 39C or H, I see there is no toilet or bassinet nearby....thanks! |
what is happening to all the freed up LH 77H and G??
more US frequencies- ORD/SFO DFW? AKL permanent twice daily? |

New editors, and PM mods or me if you want access
All:
*For our Cathay Fleet, Route and Configuration guide, I received an automated GDoc request for access via email; however, due to (mainly) anonymous FlyerTalk usernames, I don't know who you are! Please send the mods or me a PM via Flyertalk with your email address and I'll add you as an editor. Apologies we can't allow open access; we tried that originally, and either via accident or prank but the page kept getting defaced. *Thanks to all the editors so far! Calling for more regulars to edit the sheet. Current editors are: sxc cxfan1960 sscywong FlyPointyEnd G-CIVC maortega15 dunflyer jacobsleather QRC3288 Thanks to all! |
