Finding Fare Conditions

I just booked a ticket from Europe on a special offer and cannot find the fare rules. I did not get much indications during booking and there seems to be conflicting information on CX website.
Where could I get detailed info?. I could not find the fare on EF.
It is ASUM1Y

Thanks

That looks like a booking reference. Would need the fare class as per your eticket to check fare rules...

Agree, it looks like your booking reference #.

Usually when booking a ticket online, an airline's site offers a link to their page called "Fare Conditions"

On that page, you would find the Fare Basis Code and all of the rules and conditions associated with that fare.

On EF, each of the fare basis codes reflect different cabins and fare types and each one has the fare conditions associated with it. Some require 7 day advance purchase, some might require a Sunday stay and so on.

There are also fare basis codes that are not shown and those may be associated with a third party travel agency-type group booking.

OP - did you book your ticket on the CX website or with a travel agent or OTA?

Could be a 1 year A class ticket, not his booking reference.

When booking on cathay pacific website, on the payment page you will find a link to the fare rules at the very bottom. Once you click on that, you get the detailed fare rules.

Screenshots attached.

Then it should be something like A1Y... instead?

Sorry to have been travelling.
ASUM1Y is the fare basis that appears in the eTicket, it is not the booking reference. A is indeed the booking class.

When I booked on CX webiste, the fare rule said ticket valid one year.
However I now wish to change the return date and the CX agent tells me that it has to be flown before 30 September 2016. That was not mentioned in the description of the promotion on the website. It did say valid 1 year. They changed to text on the website to "return before 30 September 2016" after I complained. Unfortunately I did not print the old screen.

I tried to redo the same booking.
In the summary of fare condition, it does state that the return must be done 1 year after my departure date.

In the detailed fare conditions, it gives me a different fare basis than ASUM1Y, it is A1YIBPT:

1 - PSGR P1 ADT RULES DISPLAY
FARE COMPONENT 1 ADT PARKUL CX A1YIBPT PU 1 N
FCL: A1YIBPT TRF: 170 RULE: F510 BK: A
PTC: ADT-ADULT FTC: FR -FIRST CLASS RESTRICTED

There is nowhere here (maybe I missed it) where the validity is indicated. But the summary says return is valid for one year from departure.

It says "FTC: FR -FIRST CLASS RESTRICTED" instead of "FTC: FX -FIRST CLASS EXCURSION". So it is kind of up in the air. It should follow the terms as in the original booking site when you book. If it is a promotion, there is usually a travel-completed-by date when you book.

Thanks for all the responses.
I guess that I got fooled by the initial information posted on the website that got corrected a few days later. That is the only place where they mention the restriction on the return date.
It seems that this restriction is somewhere in their internal system but not available publicly. Still it says on my summary fare information that the return must be completed 0/1 year from my departure date. And that restriction was never mentioned to me.

I also find it very frustrating that it is difficult to find fare rules after the booking has been made. I am usually most interested in knowing if there is refund or whether changes can be made to dates on "save" fare classes. During the online booking process it is relatively easy to find the summary by clicking on the fare class, but unless I've printed it (which I rarely do), it's hard to find it again. It would be helpful if the link to the summary fare rules could be found in "manage my booking". Anyway, I found this link relatively helpful, although the summaries are grouped under "business save" etc., rather than the fare class letter.
