It's still being advertised in today's fanfare email. Are they still sitting on that huge pile of vouchers because even the high school students were too lazy to fill out the paperwork for a free coffee (and cake!!)?

I call this "Hong Kong Marketing" mainly for local people. Whenever there are freebies, HK people would go crazy and do anything to get them, whether or not what they buy or get for free is useful or not.

Just my 2 cents.

The point is that nobody is biting at these silly vouchers.

The way it works in HKG is, if it's good, it's gone within hours. If it's still around after a week, then don't bother since it's definitely not good.

Well, to be fair, I don't think anyone will be booking because they want to get these vouchers... BUT, for those who were going to book and buy a ticket for travel during those periods anyways, it's something free, so why not?

On the basic principle of we were going to book anyway, so it's a welcome little bonus .....l guess you're right tfung.

That said, it's almost as though CX went out of their way to make the promotion about as underwhelming as possible : the combination of a low-value* 'benefit' and a very limited number of beneficiaries !

With a total commitment of a little over HK$30K, they didn't exactly go wild with this one .......

(*relative to a typical ticket spend)

@alphaod ..... My figure of "a little over HKD30K" was based on a quick calculation of the value of the vouchers x the number of eligible customers (and then there's the coffee + cake, hence the 'little over'....)

I've just noticed that gpia comes up with a similar calculation (posts # 5 & 8). I did my complex sums independently, so hopefully we're not both wrong with our maths. Or maybe we are ...??!

I wish they could devote as many man hours to dealing with their useless app as they do coming up with useless promotions.

subject2load you're up; certainly enjoyed your vision last time: did said airhead initially make this "competition" for one pax only? But then, CX's own Don Draper decided there's a 1/1.400.000 (=0,0000714%!) chance his partner of choice would win the competition and take him on a joyride, and added "a friend"?

But if they give him away, who will come up with all these lucky draw frenzies?
