Currently airborne as CX3334 on flightaware, flightradar, etc.
Does anyone know if this has J class installed already in Toulouse? Or if HAECO has to make modifications once the plane arrives in Asia? If the former it should be in commercial service in the next few days. If the latter, it will likely take a few more weeks until doing passenger service. Also, does anyone know how many of the A350s will be delivered in this manner, aka, not quite ready for commercial service yet? Of CX's 5 deliveries so far, 3 have been ready to go upon delivery, while 2 (including B-LRD) are requiring finishing work done in Asia. For the last one, it took about ~2 weeks after delivery before the plane was ready for commercial ops. |

According to the above site, CX will fly the A350 to FCO starting Oct 31. Is this accurate? |

I've been on a total of 9 A350 flights since June...last Friday to SGN (B-LRC)...and my seat was falling apart. the upholstery was frayed, the laminate was starting to peel. The seat extender won't lock, the plastic panel of the arm rest got dislodged...the folding table in the lavatory was taped to the wall.
I wonder if other operators are experiencing the same quality issues... |
Flew roundtrip on HKG-LGW last week B-LRC seat 21A and B-LRB seat 15A. In general this aircraft is perfect for long haul because of quieter cabin, more natural cabin lighting, and the flight tends to feel less violent when it hits turbulence. For the 12hr+ journey I didn't feel tired but comfortable. The acceptable speed WIFI will also let you kill time (I used it to follow live baseball game during one flight!)
The seat, as others have posted before, is a let down. On the B-LRC I had a broken footrest so the seat couldn't recline fully. The seat extender also broke. The armrest, I don't know if it's intended, seem to have a hole where you can put your water bottle? There's no padding inside so if you place your bottle not slow enough it will create a loud noise. Regarding broken seat, I don't mean just the seat is not working. You literally see fallen parts here and there, which is definitely a sign of rushed delivery. I'd be scared to fly on it if it weren't CX. Then on my return flight the seat worked perfectly, but the IFE didn't. The screen seemed to incorrectly sense pressure on the upper right corner (where the X button is) so whatever you are trying to do it will accidently close the window for you. On both flights I noticed that whenever there's a PA announcement the IFE will always go back to the main menu. Also the Camera function sometimes are not visible. I usually prefer the mini cabin over the main but for this aircraft I prefer the main cabin more (especially the middle row). In the mini cabin, the ceiling lights from PEY will shine thru and also the magnet clips holding the curtain makes a loud sound when people try to pass thru. |

I'd be scared to fly on it if it weren't CX. Whereas B-LRE and B-LRD came delivered w/o J class; J class was installed by HAECO in Asia. (I'm not 100% sure about B-LRD, but it was delivered 10 days ago and still hasn't flown a commercial mission, so my *bet* is this also was delivered without J class seats installed). B-LRE's installation took about 2 weeks before commencing commercial ops. I'm wondering out loud: perhaps B-LRA, LRB and LRC have localized J class quality issues? And perhaps LRD and LRE won't? Granted, I think Zodiac is still the supplier so I'm not sure why this should make a big difference? Anyone know? Or if these problems will plague the entire design of the J seat? |

Interesting notes about seat quality issues in J. B-LRA, B-LRB and B-LRC came completely installed from Toulouse. Zodiac made these seats right? 2/3 of these regs are ones you both complained about.

In my experiences up to now the FA's were somewhat able to salvage these situations. The seat-extender might just be too fragile of a tool for a lot of the customers to use. Im guessing people dont know how to use them properly and then use excessive force to 'fix' it which ultimately breaks them even more. Lets hope that it actually will make a difference by installing the seats in HK. |

Checking my logs I have been on B-LRA the most, having done 3 last June 1 flights. Last flight on B-LRA last August, the small cabinet won't lock properly....not really a big thing but I'm just surprised it's broken. The wood laminates were also peeling....and the seats edges are frayed too.

How does the perceived room in seat and bed mode feel compared to those on the 77W? Does the newly designed seat extension as well as padded bin cover make a difference?
Also, how much quieter did the cabin feel when you were seated up front compared to when in the mini cabin or is it basically negligible? The mini cabin is closer to the engine so there's more engine noise but it's not huge. The main noise in the mini cabin is pursers walking back and forth when serving meals to PEY passengers, and the annoying magnetic clips of the curtain. One more thing that I forgot to mention in my last post. the new IFE screen is bigger and also brighter so during a night flight when the cabin lights are off. If someone is watching something flashing, it might brighten the cabin. Also if you are sleeping on your side facing the isle, the screen of the other side may be a disturbance. |
I'm booked on AKL-HKG for Dec 2nd...currently have 20A, that the window bulkhead seat in the J mini cabin. It's a day flight, so I'm wondering if I should keep that seat or move to the main J cabin. thoughts?

Economy Preferred (exit row) vs Premium Economy
My wife and I are booked on SQ32 in Y class from SIN to SFO on Jan 1. Given the length of the flight, we were trying to evaluate the differences in paying for preferred economy seats (47B/47C), which are $100 each, and trying to bid for a premium economy upgrade 24 hours prior to departure.
Looking at seatguru, if we can get the above seats behind the exit door with comparable legroom and likely reclining seats since the exit door isn't behind them, wouldn't it be cheaper to pay for these seats rather than sitting out and bidding potentially more money on the premium economy seats? Has anyone done a thorough comparison between these seats? Thanks! |
Hi there I just returned from Sydney to London Gatwick flew the A350 to Hong Kong and back economy class.
Definitely noticeable difference in legroom and the quality of the IFE, than on the HK - Sydney leg. Both legs of the flight on the way back was pretty empty in economy managed to get a whole window row to myself. I have a copy of the menus happy to scan and post but not sure where the economy ones go. I had row 50 abc and then 64abc. |
