Waitlisting Chances?
Dear Flyers:
This is my first time to be on the waitlist. I have a confirmed award round trip ticket booked a year ago (YYZ to HKG and back). Now there are some changes to my travel plan and I would like to change my outbound flight (YYZ to HKG) to 5 October. I am now on the waitlist. Given that it's National Day holiday in China and it's close to thanksgiving in Canada, can anyone please provide me with some comments re the chances to get the 5 October flight? Would it be possible to get it clear/confirmed in August (my original outbound flight is in September)?

Thank you for your reply. I read the threads in this forum but they are mostly about redeeming flights not changing award flights. I think my chances are even less than those cases considering that MPC gave me the deadline one month prior to the date of the requested flight to clear the request and I am just a green member.
However, I checked the CP website and found the ticket fare is high for that date. Hope less people will buy tickets.
I noticed that someone in this forum was able to find remaining seat info, but I have no clue where to find that info. It's highly appreciated if someone could advise. I am evaluating the situation to decide whether or not to proceed with other alternatives.

If the fares available for sale are high, that's not a good sign: They've sold out of cheaper fares already, leaving fewer empty seats to be released for awards, and have reason to think they'll still sell other seats at the higher fares. That doesn't mean you wouldn't clear a waitlist, but with no status and a convergence of holidays, I wouldn't plan on it.
