Differing Booking Class Availability in CX vs ExpertFlyer

I have an upcoming flight with my friend from SIN to TPE via HKG which I needed to change date.

I called CX SG Office to make the change. I was told that CX474 (HKG-TPE) on 24 Jul only have "1" seat availability and she is not able to confirm the change, though she can place us on watilist.

I went to check expertflyer and noted that there is "3" seat available for "D" class, and find it strange that she is not able to confirm us on the flight, given that there is only 2 of us. Currently , we are still on waitlist. She is able to confirm us on the SIN-HKG flight, CX714.

Is there any different in seat availability shown in CX agent terminals vs ExpertFlyer availability?

This is what I can see from ExpertFlyer:
J5 C4 D3 I2 W9 R8 E7 Y9 B9 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0

The ticket is issued in "D" booking class. Thanks.

No specific experience with this, but could it be a married segment issue? The D seats you see on EF may not be available to connecting pax or somesuch.

Thanks. But somehow if I do a dummy booking via CX.com, I was able to book a married segment from SIN-HKG_TPE-HKG-SIN on "I" class on same date and flight.

Did you try dummy booking of two seats or one?

Of course with 2 seats to "test" the system to see if I can get "D" class. Unfortunately, I am not able to change the booking online and was advised to call the Reservation Office.

Strangely, if you select UK POS, and search SIN-TPE (CX) on 24JUL2015 in ExpertFlyer, CX714-CX474 combination doesn't appear at all.

When you tried SIN-HKG-TPE-HKG-SIN, which flights did you get? Is that CX714-CX474?

ExpertFlyer shows a selector for POS:

US (Default)
UK

So, I just chose UK.
Because, porbably OP used US(Default).

I just tried EF 24 JUL, US POS:
CX 714 SIN 07/24/15 1:20 AM HKG 07/24/15 5:10 AM F4 A6 J5 C7 D6 I5 W9 R9 E9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S0 N0 Q1 O0
CX 474 HKG 07/24/15 8:15 AM TPE 07/24/15 10:00 AM J5 C7 D6 I5 W9 R9 E9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S0 N0 Q1 O0

It seems the combination is good and D & I are available.

For SIN-HKG-TPE-HKG-SIN sectors bought via CX.com, I generally used the Multiple Cities Function to specify the time as strangely under the "usual" booking method, the CX714-CX474 routing does not appear. But if I specify the time that I would like to depart, this pair will appear.

In this case, should I call them to get them to see if they can confirm the flight? Would prefer to arrive TPE earlier as I have a lunch appointment that day and the earlier flight will give me sufficient time to do so.

Thanks again for all the advice.

I have managed to contact CX Global Contact Centre and they were pretty efficient and proactive. They went to check "D" availability and confirmed the seats straight away. Was strange that CX SIN Office was not able to confirm us on the flights.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

Thanks. However, based on my past few experiences when it comes to changing commercial tickets, MPC always have problem pulling up the booking restrictions and ticket validity and once they actually had to transfer my call to the reservation office. As such, I tend to prefer to speak to someone from the reservation office instead for commercial ticket changes.

My family have been calling MPC to make changes without problems. They may have to call back in a few hours for the fare changes, but that haven't been any issue for us.

Can they do this even for tickets where there's point of sale restriction originally? I reached out to MPC this morning about ex-DXB flight and was told both by MPC (and US reservation) to call DXB office as they couldn't do anything. Somewhat of a problem due to time zone difference (and the fact that DXB office close at 3pm during ramadan).
