The type of flight you would be opupped is elite light anyways, the type of flight you won't get opposed has plenty of diamond in front of you.

Mind you seat guRntee is a hoax.... When you really need it over CNY they don't sell any cheap V or L class anyways, lowest bookable class is K or H...

Oh hang on it's not a hoax... When your grandma die and off chance all the 4 daily flights are fully booked and you choose not to fly any other 4 carriers....yes your gold plated card might work.... Off that, unless ur grandpa tells you he will pop off 72hr prior to dying you can't use ur guarantee
Not true, my dad had a h+l ticket hkg-oka//kix-hkg in cny, and l+l right now for easter. Quite a savings compared to me doing b+b(3000hkd), plus the opup to W. (id hv it too i guess if we flew the same flight)

I disagree. For me, service on-board as a GO is no different from non status pax. Sometimes (rarely) I get a greeting but that's it. It's been at least 3 years since I've received any on-board perks such as pre-booking meal choice or anything outside of completely routine service.

Not this DM member, I had not been serve first in a year and a half. Maybe special order food? They always get serve first.

Same for me also. I was greeted and offered preferred meals quite a bit when I was flying J (mostly to LHR) but now that I am flying mostly Y+ - nothing. Disappointing really.

perhaps...but the food did look sorta like what i had ordered. wasn't close enough to see clearly though

oh should also add that though i rarely get the greeting these days, on my last flight the AA EXP flyer had issues with his IFE and as we were talking to the flight attendants in the back of the plane they did address me by my name. weird since i didn't get a greeting but i guess they are still aware of their MPC members??

As a new-ish GO I have gotten greetings by the SP in Y/PEY on my last few regional flights. They were to/from KUL, which is relatively elite-light - I suspect this could be a factor. Long-haul flights, nothing in Y.

Years ago, ISMs greet every DM (and probably GO too) in all cabins on DM/GO heavy flights such as TPE (before there were direct flights between Taiwan and the Mainland). They seldom do that nowadays, even to DMs in J.

IMHO, greetings are nice, but not benefits. The days when the ISM might offer me caviar in Y cabin were long gone.

Actually to me greeting is good but not necessary. Particularly if loading is heavy and they are very busy, some ISM / CP (KA) just rushed down the aisle and said "hello" then gone which I think is not necessary and I don't feel this meaningful as well.

The most meaningful greeting I had was my first flight with CX since I first qualify as DM (the fifth since DM, first four are all on KA). The ISM really had time to briefly talked with me and congratulate me to make DM (but nothing more...)

Back to the topic... If just comparing SL and GO, honestly I really can't think of any unpublished benefit difference... Maybe higher priority / faster answer in MPC hotline (5500)... But that's all

The real unpublished benefit is asking for goodies in the premium cabins. I always ask for some fresh fruits from J cabin to eat.

Do you go to J galley to ask or the Y one?

I hope I will get greeted in Y as a OWS with CX though I better keep my expectation low and take a bottle of Bonaqua from the lounge.

Also is the seat block still a thing with CX?

If you want a bottle of water, then bring your own from the lounge.
I never really understand this whole obsession with being greeted.

In the PEY cabin, the GO members will get a greeting if there are no DMs.. SLs are generally ignored. Though I do normally get greeted by name though I can't say that is due to GO status or distinctive appearance.

Happy wandering
