Transit changes

Anyone tried moving transit flights on a standby basis that moves it out of the 24 hr window?
Basically i have a cx am award hkg-xhnd-xkix-hkg flight where inwant to move the JL leg ahead sameday out of the latter transit.
Normal jl protocol calls cx to verify ticket is changable, then changes my ticket for an earlier flight.
