I've got a money belt which fits inside my pants attached to my belt to hold it on. Very effective for carrying large amounts of wedge.

Of course this remains a problem if you are in F and are wearing your pyjamas

I tried them before a long long time ago and they are so uncomfortable.

1) in the case where you have a load to carry, the peace of mind would make up for the uncomfyness.
2) get those thin "passport holder" that you can wear under your shirt/jacket so it goes around ur neck/shoulder instead

If you roll your money into a tight cylinder, then there is also the ultimate hiding spot to put it.

Well, let's not get into this...

I always have a jacket on flight (the cabin can sometimes get really cold). Putting money and passports inside the inner pocket of my jacket is quite safe, but I nearly always lock my carry-on anyway.

They can be mildly uncomfortable, but I put up with that for the sake of knowing my cash is safe. I also put my passport and credit cards in there. My overseas flights are typically around 24 hours total in the air, I can put up with it for that length of time if the alternative might be landing half way around the world with no money and no passport.

While Sterling is almost certainly convertible, CHF may be less so, and Bahraini Dinar quite likely to not be convertible in lesser developed countries, where the risk of the electronic methods of payment and cash retrieval failure are higher. There is a reason the greenback (blueback, now) is such a popular currency to carry.

In F, I used to empty my pockets into that small compartment where the headphones [used to?] go for the duration of the flight. Cash, keys, passport, everything. After reading this thread, I'm not so sure that that's such a great idea any more.

Also if you forget anything

I put my phone there on CX F flights- not that I can use it in the air, but can charge and take the occasional photo from that position

(1)Cargo style pants have multiple pockets, a few are deeply "recessed", many with zippers
(2)Many travelers like to show their "status", using very upscale (and expensive) luggage--if I were a thief, I would assume that such carry-ons have expensive contents also.

Scottevest or other travel garmets are ideal for this -- cash can go in an inside zipped pocket... plus it holds everything else you need on a plane ride. Now that I know the seat pocket in front of you is one of the filthiest areas of the plane I won't touch it or put anything in it.

Stealing cash on HKG flights

it has always been an issue on flights to and from HKG... I can only assume there are organised groups or individuals working these routes and stealing esp on CX flights...CX has listed warnings on their websites...
I am uber careful and carry my wallet at all times in my handbag even to toilet
not sure if pick pocketing was the problem ; sounds like a sleeping passenger was an easy target...and who would know which passenger belonged to which overhead bag...rummaging away any time during the flight...sorry to hear it ...
