Flying on a discount business class ticket.

Outbound currently booked on the 1:30AM flight YYZ-HKG on a Sunday morning.

Want to move to the 3:30PM flight on Saturday afternoon.

Will CX likely be willing to do it without a charge? Both flights are currently showing J9 on KVS, so probably not full.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
If your first outbound sector is YYZ-HKG and you haven't used your ticket yet, then no changes are permitted as this is considered as a cancellation. If you change your date, then you will be buying a new ticket based on what current fare is.

If this is your return, then changes and change fee will be applicable based on your fare rules.

I am booked in an "I" fare and the change fee is C$200. I was just thinking whether there is a way not to pay!

Thanks. I should clarify to change from the 1:30AM flight (technically the next calendar day) to the 3:30PM flight of the day before, not several days earlier or later.

Yes.. but you still haven't answered the question if this is the OUTBOUND flight that you're trying to change , ie the first flight on your ticket.

If that is the case, it definitely cannot be changed (at least with my TA knowledge) without reissuing the ticket to the new current fare, and it doesn't even include the change fee.

So what are you gonna do if they say no... hang around the airport for the next 9 hours?

Sorry, it's the return leg.

If they say no, I may "bite the bullet" and pay the C$200 change fee so long as there is no fare difference to be paid. Otherwise, I should not have any problem finding things to do in Toronto until 1:30AM.

Subsequent to booking the ticket, I unexpectedly need to attend to some businesses later on the day of arrival. This flight arrives at 5AM. I therefore prefer to arrive the day before for a good rest.

If that's the case, then it is changeable. But whether they will let you get on without the change fee is debateable as with e-tickets these days, everything must match up otherwise a BP won't be printed.

they could waive the change fee if they wished. i dont know about YYZ, but there's a few ports that i've gotten change fee waived. and there's also ports where i had to pay (aka LHR)
