Changes to new F

Finally got on a refurbished F class flight and the following are the differences:
- Cosmetic colour change
- The control panel using the touch screen. Prefer the older one as you don't need to navigate through the menu. The side lights are controlled from here now
- the seat extension control panel is removed. However they have put in 3 preset buttons instead - bed/take off/night light. You can no longer independently use the seat extension in seat mode
- missing cushion on the arm rest and it is a lot harder to deploy it
- no more seatbelt and smoking indicator( I think these were only for 1A and K on 744)
- the headphone connection is now outside of the cubby hole on the side on the table.
USB connection and iPod connection
- Magazine rack on the side wall have holes in the bottom - prob to avoid things getting trap there
- cup holder
- vase with fresh orchids for every seat now
- the cover for the table storage have been redesigned seems slightly easier to use.
- additional light beneath ottoman

ah you reminded me...one very minor beef I have with seats 2A/2K is the seatbelt sign makes the suite a bit brighter when engaged....do you know if this is changed with the new F?

**clarity = on 777 only, not 747

U mean the overhead sign?
I actually never had problem with it before

The location is still the same for overhead signs

For 2A is it still directly sort of above your head next to the overhead light on the side wall

It is not guaranteed yet. To be honest unless you are as crazy as me you probably won't notice that many difference. I personally prefer the old style and have to ability to adjust every part of the seat rather than now with the fixed mode.

Cathay Pacific New First Class Jan 27 2014 HKG-JFK #830

I had the New First Class on CX HKG-JFK. On JFK-YVR-HKG I had the older F but to be honest the changes are so minimal that both are equal in my opinion. I like the red carpet but not thrilled with the dark gray covering on the suite walls. They looked dented and warped when the light hits it. Just nit picking though. As always, the service and the seat is amazing.

Is the new seat upholstery different than the old, seemingly vinyl covering?

Yes different fabric. Not vinyl but a Birdseye pattern.
