Error message while trying to book a reward flight

Has anyone ever received this message when trying to book a reward flight online?

Please review the following items:
We are unable to process your request at the moment due to technical difficulties. Please try again later. [Error.IBE_USR603_CHECK_MILES_GEN_ERROR]

It comes up after I select the flight I want.

Thank you.

Sounds to me you're trying to book an Award that requires a transit with CX (or BA).

I'm trying to book a flight from HKG to EWR. The only option is a stopover in LHR.

I find I get a similar message when the award is no longer available except the website is letting me progress to redemption stage or when the award involves flying on partner airlines.

Best bet (unfortunately) is to give asia miles / MPC a call to sort it out.

You will need to call MPO/AM or use the AM online redemption form for such itineraries. The system will stupidly think it is 60,000 HKG-LHR + 45,000 LHR-EWR as oppose to recognizing it as 90,000 Asia Miles.

(Assuming Economy, multiply more for respective classes)

Even if you have a zillion AM's in your account, such itineraries still won't go through.

You're lucky as both HKG-NYC and HKG-LHR-NYC will yield the same 90,000 AM required.

While West coast America/Canada cities don't get the same treatment.
- HKG-LAX, 60,000 AM EY direct
- HKG-LHR-LAX...will require 110,000 AM even if you don't mind travelling for 24+ hrs.

- HKG-YVR, 60,000 AM
- HKG-LHR-YVR, 110,000 AM
- HKG-JFK-YVR, 110,000 AM

I would warn you though, the amount of tax and surcharges you'll be paying on your itinerary will be quite high though as you have BA/LHR involved.
