Help re Redemption Waitlist
Hi all,
I was wondering if someone could help me out with a few questions I have re booking a premium economy class ticket using miles. I'm a silver MPO member.
I spoke to an agent and got a confirmed ticket for the outbound flight HKG to LAX for Dec 30th (CX880) but am waitlisted for a few dates on the return leg (LAX to HKG for Jan 7,8,9 CX 885) and was told if I didn't hear back by Dec 23 this whole itinerary would be cancelled.
1. Could anyone tell me how many free seats are available in premium economy for the return leg also how good my chances might be?
2. If I cancel this whole trip before the I get confirmation for my return leg, will miles be deducted for the outbound leg? (I might need to because of a possible job interview)
This is my first time doing this waitlist thing so sorry if these are stupid questions but please bear with me.
Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, unfortunately I'm still waitlisted for my return flight although I have been calling MPO daily. All I've been told is that there are still revenue seats left for the 8th (they told me to change my waitlists to the flights on that day instead of the 7th) and that all I can do sit tight and wait for them to be released.

Could anyone please let me know the updated seat availability for CX885, CX883 and CX881 on January 8th from LAX to HKG?

I only have 40,000 miles after the issue of my outbound ticket and if I get get charged one way for my return segment. I would not have enough. I guess I would have to pay 260 USD to top up or another sum to transfer miles from someone else. There's no way around this is there? MPO won't be willing to deduct the remaining miles to make it a round trip?

So I bit the bullet and issued my outbound ticket as a one way and was charged 48000 miles. I was told that if my waitlist cleared that they would issue my return as a one way and can get my miles refunded. Here's the problem:

Notes:
* Just to be sure... do you have the right status to enter the US (I think Canada is OK too)? Otherwise you cannot enter US without an outbound ticket.
* Don't forget the fuel and tax surcharges for the return. You will be charged for the return award regardless of any top-up.

Do you mean they will charge you 48000 miles first then refund 24000 miles, instead of charging you 24000 miles? That is not efficient on CX side.

I didn't think about the status to enter the US. I'm carrying a Canadian passport. I reckon I should call CX eh.....
