Redeem CA using Asiamiles does not allow transfers?
Hi everyone,
Recently I tried to redeem HKG/PEK/NRT round-trip on CA using Asiamiles. When I call the centre, I was told that they can only issue HKG/PEK r.t and PEK/NRT r.t separately but not as a whole ticket and they have to charge me miles separately.
However, I do not find such statement from the T&C on Asiamiles webpage. Or is there something that I have missed? Thanks a lot.

can you clarify what you mean by HKG/PEK/NRT round trip?
do you mean HKG-PEK-NRT-PEK-HKG?
the T&C says that The member or the Nominee may make two stopovers, two transfers or one open-jaw at either the origin, en route or turnaround point on all airline partners except Air China and Iberia where no stopovers or open-jaws are permitted.
assuming you are doing HKG-PEK-NRT-PEK-HKG, you will need to have PEK, NRT and PEK as either a stopover or a transfer. since you are only allowed two transfers and no stopovers, your itinerary cannot be booked within the rules.
hope this is what you're looking for.

I was planning HKG-xPEK-NRT, NRT-xPEK-HKG. So I reckon both PEK are counted as transfers. Is NRT counted as a stopover then?

I would tend to think that NRT is a destination but not a stopover. Otherwise, all CA and IB ticket will be meaningless - one has to return to his origin within 24 hours of arriving his intended destination.
However, I also understand that this way of reading is inconsistent with the reading of "2 stopovers, 2 transits and 1 openjaw" rule or the "5 stopovers, 2 transits and 2 openjaw" rule where there is no such thing called "destination" and the so-called destination is regarded as a stopover.

Thanks guys, although it still seems a bit ambiguous and strange to me though... I also have tried the online miles-checking system and they also don't allow me to do HKG/PEK/NRT via CA in one ticket, so it is not the agent's problem but it should be the real case happening...

However, if I were you, I would stick with CX or JL
