System Changes 2A to Another Seat - Automatically

I have three CX flights - all CX 807 - a 77W ORD-HKG in the next four months. For each flight I had called and reserved Seat 2A.

When I checked recently, all three seats were changed to either 1A or 2D.

When I called CX today they said that the system automatically changes these seats since they are "bassinet" locations. I am aware of this for a long time but have never had the system automatically revert me to another seat.

Finally - on another note. I can't use MMB since it how returns with a "System error" message for all three records.

Happened to me, too. Reserved 1A and 2A. At check-in last week, the boarding passes showed 1A and 1K. Had them change to 2A again.

It seems those bassinet seats are blocked off -- perhaps until close to actual flight time. Not that big a deal. I'd note that I had been receiving the system error message -- for most of August -- looks like that's been resolved -- at least for me.

There seems to be a preference to 2A on the 77W over 1A in your post, and the following posts.

I'm booked on an AA F award SYD-HKG-BKK, with CX 77W HKG-BKK and was allocated 1A after CX calling staff for seating. For the 3 hours flight (mid-morning) I'm not too fussed on seating in terms of sleep/noise.

But am curious why the preference for 2A....?

Cheers, TK

Two reasons for 2A.

1. Furthest seat from the galley area.

2. 2K is also OK but has a bit more traffic since 4 seats - 1D, 2D, 1K, and 2K - are on the same aisle.

Keep in mind 2A is right in front of the business class galley.

Still, I prefer 2A too since the curtain between the J galley and the F cabin rarely opens- and if it does, it's someone heading into the F galley so the front curtain's going to be opened too.

Same thing happened to me yesterday

Just got off cx807 last night, same situation happened to me. Booked 2D, called and moved to 2A, when checked in at EWR the system automatic moved me back to 2D.

Straight everything out at ord with Cathay check in staff.

First was half full, 1a, 2d and 2k were open.

No noise or traffic in 2A at all

2A is in front of the business class mini cabin, not the galley.

I prefer 1A. Windows are slightly misaligned in 2A resulting in you can't see outside to the immediate left unless you are sitting forward in your seat. This problem does not exist in 1A. I've never had a problem reserving 2A when 1A was already taken; but it does take a telephone call to and conversation with CX reservations.

You're probably thinking of the 747's. But that would be 4A/D

Ack, recently had an F segment and J segment in the mini cabin back-to-back and mixed up the two. My apologies.

I do recall there being quite a bit of noise behind me in F throughout the flight- linen bin?
