Quote: Just wondering, If we put up our baggage tags, won't other people able to see our status and name and that would lower our "security" protection?

just my two cents worth
And how is that different to a normal baggage tag that you should have on your bags that should have your name and contact details?

+1

Not that it makes a huge difference.....if anything, it increase your "security protection".
Those that do peak around can only see your Name + MPC number.
While "normal" baggage tag would consist of your name, phone number, address, whatever you decided to write on there.

If your luggage ever does get lost, and you needed to be contact. MPC / CX would have access to your more "personal" information by looking up your MPC number.

That's true. But who still puts their baggage tag anymore? Have not seen that for a long long time.

I have noticed people seem to put their baggage tags on their hand carry items such as Roller bags and laptop bags, rather than checked luggage.

I saw a DM yesterday wearing a backpack with his DM tag dangling from it. I would guess most people use the tags for hand carry items nowadays

Quote: I hope my replacement tags are stronger and better made than my original ones which were battered and broken within 3 flights.
So I got my new tags....after one flight, one had been ripped off my bag.

I now only put baggage tags on my cabin luggage. One of my tags got lost at LHR but my trusty plastic Emirates name tag has survived much more! I think it has to do with the metal tie. If it was a belt like tie instead, it probably wouldn't come off so easily..
