Just to share my experience
 

A few years ago when I was still regular passenger with CX who had DM status, I was presented with a gift of bottle Krug for my birthday but did not take it home as I had no where to put it and I was in transit to NRT. I was a DM Y passenger and got upgraded to J. I pretty much asked for a glass of krug. I had 2 glasses of krug on that sector. They were nice enough to give me a glass of krug nonetheless a bottle to take home. Now, I currently fly for CX on the triple seven.

Actually no. When I applied for cadetship with CX, I was already a DM. And pretty much a deal was worked out when they said I can still use DM status until it expires since I worked my rear end off for that DM. I had to fly in Y from JFK to Asia every month or twice a month. Talk about loyalty! :D

So without the deal, you wouldn't be able to use the DM benefits on ID tickets?

I couldn't interchange it. Either Staff ID tix or regular tix with DM.

That sucks. No lounge access, priority baggage, etc. But you might still get a free bottle of Krug on birthday :p

Well if I was flying with someone, DM would have been benefitial for them for the experience as well but I guess cost is more of a concern rather than benefits. But hey, I can ask for krug on long-haul F sectors if I wish. And the crews bags are tagged pririty anyway even for the cabin crew.

I hope you meant when you are the passenger not when you are flying :p Otherwise you will make Apply Daily headline for drinking Krug while flying tomorrow LOL

But the FA probably can't gift you a bottle after the flight now if you are on duty right?

Couldn't you purchase ID tickets and still flash your DM card for.lounges without the deal :D

Wouldn't the dragon know when he/she scans the bar code?

Of coure I meant when I am holiday. I'm not really a drinker to be honest.

Also to maortega15 - assume u r pilot or MT, so that means when you got the CX job, they said you can't retain DM (even if you earn it urself through revenue tix)? or you just don't bother anymore as you can ID it in J anyway?

The Lounge receptionist (CSOs) are pretty nice and knowledgable. Much better than other airlines where the term "dragon" is more appropriate.

Well I earned DM the hard way. I had to take Y JFK-HKG pretty much monthly. They agreed to let me stay DM as long as I don't use it in conjuction with an ID ticket so either I use DM or I use the ID ticket. I use the ID ticket to be more cost effective for myself.

Anyways, enough about me and stay on topic in regards to the krug :D :p
