77G Experience
just took the flight from YYZ to HKG on 3/3, the first flight between YYZ-HKG
i would use "terrible" to describe the Y+ cabin
1) the seat 30H already "broken"
2) you could not get any help with the cabin crew assistance light on for more than 10 mins
3) there are only 3 galleries in the plane, one in J, one in middle of Y, and one at the tail. therefore, it is terribly bad experience if Y+ pax not getting any help and hard to reach the gallery to get help.
4) even i walk to the gallery in the middle of the Y, the light was off, and no one was there. and i didnt wanna walk to the far end of the flight to try seeing if any crew there
5) the IFE broken frozen again and again, the it takes turn between pax. if i do reset on mine, the others would get frozen; and, when someone else do reset, there could be another one got frozen. my IFE got reset 5 times, how terrible?!
6) they have a technician in flight, i guess they know how unstable their IFE is, and therefore, they place a technician in J to assist the crew handling with the IFE issues, however, he didnt help much, and at the end, the crew just told us, the technician is getting rest, so no one can help to solve the issue.
7) i can tell the crews are highly affected by the cutting headcount, with more pax on board. they are all looking exhausted and tired. what a pity.
8) once the front pax recline their seat, it is quite difficult to me to walk out from my seat (K column) to the aisle, since the reclined seat from the front and the handrest in between H and K actually block the way, and it is so difficult for me to pass over it.
9) the reading light from the overhead totally ruin the cabin atmosphere, even one of those reading light on, there is no point for the cabin light dim to be dark.
10) there isnt any mood lighting in the Y+ cabin.
11) the meal are identically the same as Y, except those silverware.
12) the crew are absent in knowledge of the new IFE, and ask us (Y+ pax) to touch the screen to see if it has response. i was so surprise they could say such thing. not only one crew, three crews did say the similar wordings. GOSH!
13) i was surprised that they do not give out survey to passengers regarding to this new cabin. and i only see they gave out one or two the "standard survey form" for passenger to fill it. i wonder those box-checking survey could help them to improve. lol.

im not sure what your second question asking about. as you know, they seats are design in "2-person", while there is a mini-stand (handrest) for drinks in between seats. so, the seats must must to install in multiple of 2 in order to use space efficiently. as a result, the cabin setting undoubtedly is 2-4-2 setting.

um... didnt take photos at all... those picture provided by CX are pretty much present the cabin, and i agree with those pictures. however, i think CX has lack of support on those software (IFE, staff, etc) rather than their seats. undoubtedly, the seat has much better support than the old "shell" seats. and it has a very ideal decline angle for a comfortable rest. but this ideal reclined angle would cause the problem i mention above, it could be difficult for u to leave the seat if the front seat is declined towards u

the foot rest is a bit small, anyhow, it is quite enough. it could be better if there is multiple angle available to lock. the current one is juz all or nth.

i hope so, but i would say, if CX is not going to add crew for 77G flights, i cant say any point for me to pay for that, since you won't be able to get those basic service you can have in the Y seats in the past. there are curtains separating Y/Y+/J, therefore, the Y+ cabin is juz like the 77A/77D's J mini-cabin. and, since the Y+ cabin is served by the Y cabin crew, and the insufficient number of staff just degrading the service for Y+, since it is really far away from the gallery, while they didnt use the gallery in the middle of Y, but at the tail of the plane. i guess that's the reason why my crew assistance light could be on for 10 mins but no one cares.

Although with the meals... not sure if anyone can actually tell the difference between CX's Y and J meals these days anyhow.
Sounds to me like the Y+ cabin is a failure, although it's only 1 report so far.

Ashame to see such a negative report. I was expecting there to be service issues when the seat plan was shown for 77G. There are no near by galleys, so its hard to get any type of service. Out of interest, did the cabin crew come up to Y+ from the galley frequently to check on passengers?
Also is the number of cabin crew the same on a 77G as 77A/D?

ya. there is sufficient legroom, since it needs sufficient legroom space for the legrest.
