Maximum Dimensions for a bag - how strictly enforced

I will be checking in for a business class flight to JFK at Kowloon station.

I have a cardboard box under 20kg, but around 162cm in terms of the dimensions. CX's Maximum Dimensions are 158cm. How strictly will they enforce this rule?

It depends...

My experience: In general, they are not too picky on this, unless the box is extreme in dimensions (160x1x1 to take an extreme). They will not sit with a tape-measure and count. I've checked in loudspeakers and other oddities without problems - so far! Good luck!

4cm should not be a cause of concern, especially when traveling business; they usually give some leeway, although they are slightly more strict with weight, even when flying business and an elite member (to be fair, my luggage was 57 lbs :P )

I'm also interested in this, as I'll be checking in a baby car seat that is around 162cm in dimension... are there any other such experiences?

That's the problem with asking this type of question, -- there are rules and there is experience. I've never had a CX F checkin agent even look at the scale. As for dimensions, I only check regular suitcases, so that hasn't been a consideration. I guess all we can say is give it a shot and see what happens. Oh, and YMMV.

Speaking of dimensions and weight, how about 22 x 9 x 14 Andiamo roller bag at say 35-37 lbs vs the 33 lbs? Sitting in F.

I don't think anyone will be able to give you a definitive answer here on this board; as long as it is over dimensions allowed, CX check-in staff have every right to deny you from checking that bag in. However, given that it is not too big, or that perhaps you have elite status or are traveling in J or F, they will probably let you in. The only thing you can do is either repack or use a smaller bag, or start thinking of a plan B in case they really turn you away.

For this one, I see these being checked in all the time without problems. It is a fairly standard item, and it would look really bad for an airline if it was hung out for refusing parents to keep their kids safe (which is how the media would spin it).
