there is always a group of people trying to check-in at T-48. You will see that it doesn't make a big difference if you check-in at T-45 or T-35, you'll probably be somewhere around BN20

I got op-uped 3 times out of a total of 6 times this year.

On all three flights, Economy Class was overbooked and they were upgrading all DM and GDs. One one flight with B77A, even Silvers were upgraded.

I am 3 for the last 3 (counting each one-way as one) in my new membership year. My return trip in the end of May might be no op-up as it's all 9s still.

But yeah, I was worry that with 4x JFK-HKG the op-up days are over, but I was wrong... ^

Recently on a "all 9s" flight from HKG-BOM, was op-up at airport (no-OLCI) from Y to J. Not me but my mother who is also GO.

All 9s doesn't seem to eliminate the chance.

This happened to my when using flightstats.com, hence my previous comment on the quality of the tool

Just wonder if the All 9 comes with all 9 in CDJI and 4 in FA ... it sounds strange for me they oversell like crazy.

They may as well know that flight is not selling in forward cabin and essentially sell an op-up (which they accept the fact that by selling one more Y means one more elite getting op-up)

I also checked in online for CX168 on 23/5, get BN35, and Y Class is about 95% full, is the chance of getting op-up okay? (i have been CX Silver member for nearly 2 years and never got any op-up)

Op-ups are not an entitled benefit. Please do not expect an op-up because you may be disappointed.

BN plays a very small part in your op-up as SL. You have:

DM
GO
OW Emerald
OW Sapphire

At least 20-30 people that fit in those 4 categories won't you say? Now what do you think your op-up chance is?

Both times I got op-uped as SL (SFO<->HKG) were with a 2-digit BN. I never got an op-up with a single digit BN, even #1 on one occasion. Most (including me) will agree I just got lucky - I got them on occasions when I thought I had as much as a snowball's chance in hell. There's nothing outrageous about my traveling habits to have them use that; I can comfortably make SL. I could make GO if I did some extra traveling. I couldnt make DM unless they have a catastrophic c*ckup in their IT system and assign me status miles I never flew.

It seems like the OLCI procedure has changed and you are no longer able to print your own boarding pass (need to print at airport kiosk). In this case, how do you know what your BN is?

It was not until recently that we can print our BPs. If the check-in confirmation page is the same, there should be a check-in reference as follows <flight_number>/ddmmm/<bn>, where <bn> is a 4-digit number.
