Connecting to AA in JFK
Am flying F and arriving at JFK 7 AM. I am guessing I would use the BA lounge and about how much time would you leave to catch a flight on AA. I guess its Terminal 8 to Terminal 7. How is the lounge at JFK? I am thinking 4 hours connection JFK.

If you arrive on CX then you don't use the BA lounge as the TSA will not permit you to access it. Your only choice is to go to AA and use the FL (which is better than the BA F lounge, in any case). 2 hours is plenty for connections, unless you expect to have customs problems.

AA will only allow you to use the FL if you are OW Emerald or traveling in AA int'l/transcon F. Note: even if you are in regular domestic F but without OW Sapphire or Emerald, you will not have access to any lounges, including the AA AC. AA domestic F does not grant you access to the AC.

jumbojet19920711 was correct. Your experience is different because a non-AA OW-EM/SA can access under OW rule, not AA's own rule.

Actually the AA rule requires a same day Oneworld international F segment and not an F international departure from JFK. However the wording is subtle so I'm sure some agents will mis-interpret it, and I've had status based access for a decade so this is an academic rule from my perspective. The specific rule from aa.com is "Credentials required: oneworld customers must be departing on a oneworld operated and marketed flight and, produce government-issued photo identification and, an Emerald or Sapphire frequent flyer membership card or, a First or Business Class boarding pass for the journey's international segment on the same day or before 6:00 a.m. the following day." Now "international" excludes Canada, so you need a same day F BP from HKG.

Please note that, according to oneworld's website, OP is entitled to use the Flagship Lounge in JFK T8 (http://www.oneworld.com/ow/ffp/loung...lass-of-travel).
Customers flying in Economy class on the domestic or intra-European segment to connect to or from a oneworld longhaul First or Business Class flight can also use the lounge applicable to the class in which they are travelling the longhaul segment.
