On the other hand, it is much better than the pitiful old lounge. Perhaps OP's best option would be SIN-HKG on SQ, then CX on the return.

So with everyone saying this may be F or J what is my recourse if my F ticket is actually flown J? It is an award ticket, but J is a lot less miles than F and I would expect some form of compensation. I have this booked for 2011/02/23 on an F ticket.

It's part of a 5 leg award ticket. I already have 1 leg that doesn't have F offered (SIN-NRT on JL). If I get 2/5 without F I will cancel the ticket and try a different route.

Once the ticketing is done, I think there is a charge if you change route or airline. you maybe able to get that waive for being an exp. Out of the several SIN-HKG flight each day, only 1 has first class. also Cathay sometimes switch equipment. sometimes even when you have a F booking and they change equipment on the last minute, there is not much you can do. all you can do is check the equipment on the website, see if there is last min change maybe call AA to rebook youself into the one with F seat.

are you flying ORD-SFO-HKG-SIN-NRT-ORD

Yea, booked via an All Airline award, which sucks, but let's me change for no fee. But the route was for a 20K mi trip and I am at 19964 right now. I was going to go around the world but was 100K mi short, I now have those miles, so maybe I can reroute. Already SIN-NRT is J as there is no F but at least it's JAL's new J. Frankly the basic purpose of the trip was to fly CX, so if I change, it needs to respect that one rule. I was sort of thinking:

ORD-LHR-HKG-SIN-NRT-ORD, or reverse, so I could get into the Concord room. Bummer, more planning and on my day off
