I saw that on auction before too. Don't worry. Cathay Boy has some J amenity kits already, but just not too many people bring their own amenity kits on board.

Well yes, the op-ups have kept my kit availability quite well stocked.... :p

I don't really need the Y kit and in my opinion I don't really care if CX does away with it. I just like to test what they say is actually true or not.

i really doubt it, they would say it so that it gives the public the image that they still care about the Y pax as well as the F and J pax

I think the biggest problem is, CX cuts costs in the ways that most frequent flyers can spot right the way and most other fare-finding pax won't care about. In the long term it translates into: CX is testing the loyalty and patience of its truly loyal FF's that either have status or have proven records of business with CX, which means the loss would be a big one, not only long term returning pax but also rep and such. The other thing is, if CX doesn't care about the previous consequence, or does not care enough to stop/do anything to prevent it, CX would end up with only fare-seeking one-time pax in Y, and premium travellers that are flying base on the cost and not chocie, like the case of a low-cost carrier such as RYANAIR!!!. And once the economy has returned, and those pax leaves for lowcost carriers or their original carrier of choice, CX would have to spend more money buying back their rep and their ex-loyal pax...which is sad.

Has anyone noticed how long CX has been not-verified or expired, (never renewed) in its skytrack approved airline / 5 star rating?

CX is realizing what other corporations have realized: they got us. While I'm sure a few people will eventually get fed up and leave, because they have the financial mobility to do so, but most of the FFers do not.

Skytrax... Not everyone cares, at least not me. Whether CX's service is degrading is one thing, how Skytrax ranks airlines is another. Skytrax sometimes reminds me of the credit rating companies before the 2008 financial crisis.

It is not just financial mobility. It is also relative convenience and service. Would I be better switching to UA or SQ for a SFO resident traveling to HK and other parts of Asia? Can I be sure I can always get on a flight on a few days notice?
