Difference between Y, B, H, K, and V class?
Hey guys
So i booked a cathay economy ticket, and wanted to upgrade to business. However, i was told it was a V class, and i need Y, B, H, K to upgrade. Just wondering whats the difference between these classes apart from upgrade availablity and price?
Thanks

To summarize: ($ could also mean the number of seats that the airline is willing to sell you)
Y=$$$$$$$$
B=$$$$$$$
H=$$$$$$
K=$$$$$ (Can use miles to upgrade)
L=$$$$
M=$$$
V=$$ (Yes - mileage accrual)
S=$ (No - mileage accrual)
Y=$$$$$$$$
B=$$$$$$$
H=$$$$$$
K=$$$$$ (Can use miles to upgrade)
L=$$$$
M=$$$
V=$$ (Yes - mileage accrual)
S=$ (No - mileage accrual)

One answer missing from this thread is that different classes are not just price differentials, but they also have different "perks". Some classes you can change dates at will, other cheaper classes will charge you if you make any changes. Different classes charge different prices. Anyway, in theory different class should have extra or less perk, and it various between airlines.

I just check price for SIN-NRT on cheptickets.sg, and CX came out as the cheapest SGD637 inclusive of all taxes. And it is in B class which is 100%mileage accuable.
Can't find the same price at CX web. The cheapest rate S class which i no milege accruale is SGD900+.
is this for real?
Is it possible cheaptickets.sg made mistake?

WOW. I am blown away. Just checked myself, indeed non-mileage accruing is S$950! Note to self: flights from Singapore to Japan are ridiculously expensive, especially on CX! Cheapest EY class on SQ is S$1200.
