wifi

Does anyone know what, if any, plans CX has for implementing wifi on their aircraft? Specifically 747 and 777.

They used to have Netvigator (Hong Kong broadband provider) NetMail service though.

...imagine if they had wi-fi near the North Pole.

I guess you mean internet on board? as far as I know no airline at the moment offers it since the closure of Boeing Connectix, and although there are occasional talks of rollouts with a new provider (Panasonic) nothing is forecasted for the immediate future. Anyway in light of the costs incurred by Connectix to supply the service, it may be possible future deployment of IOB will be reserved to some class and not the whole airplane? (for example in an hypotetic Y+, and that would make me book a seat without questions)

There are a few inflight internet providers. However, they all use ground based stations and work within continental USA/Canada only. Not practical for CX to implement.

Yes, as stated, a handful of airlines offer this.

Thanks for the replies regarding wifi on CX. I guess vacation will start the moment I enter the F cabin!
