At the moment, I am still using my SCB Amex Card simply because of the still-hard-to-beat 6x bonus points when you use it for overseas transactions and selected travel agents in HKG. I bought many tickets from that particular TA with the SCB Amex card because of that benefit; for example: I just authorized around $13k of tickets from HKG, which is equivalent to slightly more than 5k miles for that single transaction. Not to mention that at the moment (till end of the month), SCB Amex still has that Double Miles Promotion for local transactions, which is equivalent to 4x bonus points and the redemption rate is still at $12=1AM; free of charge.
As for other transactions in which Amex is not accepted, then, I will still use the Citibank Premier Miles; except for Dining transactions, which will go to the DBS Master Card, because of the 3x bonus points. Occasionally, when the DBS Black Card has some value-for-money promotions (like at the end of last year), I will also use it once-in-a-while.
These 4 are my most frequently used cards nowadays.

So, which one is true?? I guess I will have to wait till my bonus points for the latest transaction to be posted, then I will update this thread.
Even if it's not 6x bp...I guess the consolation is that it will still be valid for 4x bp.

Me too. I don't mind an extra Visa, but I really don't want an extra MC because I already have 2 MC which I can't get rid of and definitely don't want a third as well.
However, the form only allows the option of choosing a MC and does not offer the option of a Visa. Someone else mentioned a Visa card is possible instead of MC? How?

Why not USA?
CX has such a strong presence in USA (SFO, LAX, JFK) I'm very shock they don't offer any card here.
The only reason I can think of is that they don't want to step on AA's turf. In the old days they used to tell USA-based customers to sign up with AAdvantage rather than MPC.

I only have 1 Visa at the moment and I can cancel it, so if I have to get a new card I prefer to cancel my existing Visa and get a new Visa. That way I have 2 MC plus 1 Visa instead of 3 MC and no Visa.
You are right that they are accept together pretty much everywhere, almost. For example, at the Olympics I think they only accepted Visa and nothing else. Sometimes (very very rarely) merchants only accept Visa and then having 3 MCs in your wallet isn't very useful.
I have no particular fascination with Visa per se.

Just something more funny : I got comp-ed to a SCB Plat Visa recently, and they clearly say that they won't cancel my existing Gold Visa.
When they charge my annual fee, I called and request cancellation of card, and they say just keep it as a extra card as it cost you nothing anyway and it's under the same credit line ... may be a trick by them to increase their market penetration? (as summary I end up having 3 SCB cards ...)

Is this fair to say for the SCB Amex?
Local spend: Base rate of 2 points for 1 dollar without any spending limit = $7.5 per mile
Overseas spend: Base rate of 6 points for 1 dollar without any spending limit = $2.5 per mile
If true, it may not be the best rate around, but is certainly the best combination of the two.
Also I hope someone can answer if it's possible to get a Visa with it instead of MC.

If there is no way around it, I think I will stick to my current DBS Black and Citi Premier card combinations for now.

I try to use my SCB Amex as much as I can when I am away from HK, as I don't think anything else offers HK$2.5->1AM.
Whilst in HK, I try to use my DBS Amex for everything (including paying bills online), other than that (or where they don't accept Amex), I use my HSBC Plat Visa or Premier Mastercard or DBS Visa (for dining).

My main objection is that I have no use for another credit card, I already have too many! I want to apply and get the SCB Amex for the 6x overseas miles but do not want to be forced to also apply for a SCB MC at the same time.....

Technically you can pay other CC bill with it, but it is consider as overdraft instead of normal transaction and interest will be billed at the same time

Hi Chris, thanks for the info.
I wont be paying my other credit card bills if it counts as overdraft then! So if I pay the other bills it will count towards my points/miles and not the overdraft? Do you pay bills using your DBS Black card?
