Conquest Vacations no more
I just saw that Conquest Vacations has ceased all operations effective immediately. Their website advises people to seek a refund through their travel agent or credit card.
I wonder how many Canadians are out somewhere stranded now?

Skyservice also lost the Alba Tours contract to/from Italy. The added loss of Conquest can't be good news for them.

According to the Globe & Mail, they were a reseller of Air Canada Vacations. So, more bad news for AC

Not necessarily. From the Globe & Mail article:
I guess the article is trying to make the point that the whole vacation package sector is hurting now. I'm not cure if Conquest affects WS though.
Top players in the [vacation package] sector include Transat, Sunwing, Sunquest Vacations, Signature Vacations, Air Canada Vacations and WestJet Vacations.

Conquest was a small player killed off by the bigger players who control the inventory (read AC and TS). AC is flying home Conquest paxs who are at destination with a return booked on AC metal.

I was in Cancun when Oasis Airlines (I think that was their name) went under. We had booked air only, since we were using a time share for accomodations. The Cdn government sent a plane to take us home! (And it was AC to boot.)
I was just glad Oasis went under after we were already in Mexico rather than before we left. I'm sure the Cdn govt wouldn't have flown us down for our vacation!
