Conquest Vacations no more

I just saw that Conquest Vacations has ceased all operations effective immediately. Their website advises people to seek a refund through their travel agent or credit card.

I wonder how many Canadians are out somewhere stranded now?

I assume they use Sunwing for charter flights, thats got to hurt them. Or would it be Skyservice?

I'd guess that people that have already started travel won't be stranded since the airline should have been paid already. Future travel will be a no-go though.

I believe it was mostly Skyservice.

thats not good for skyservice..........conquest were a major client and rumour had it that if conquest didn't renew the contract for skyservice providing the flights it would be bye bye skyservice

Skyservice also lost the Alba Tours contract to/from Italy. The added loss of Conquest can't be good news for them.

According to the Globe & Mail, they were a reseller of Air Canada Vacations. So, more bad news for AC :(

Or, good news if it eliminates a competitor. Since most of ACV's inventory is seasonal beach stuff, and we're at the end of that season, the exposure may be minimal, but if SSV has to cut back capacity, AC may make it back on the ensuing consolidation.

West Jet escapes again.

Not necessarily. From the Globe & Mail article:

Top players in the [vacation package] sector include Transat, Sunwing, Sunquest Vacations, Signature Vacations, Air Canada Vacations and WestJet Vacations.
I guess the article is trying to make the point that the whole vacation package sector is hurting now. I'm not cure if Conquest affects WS though.

Air Transat, Skyservice, AC and Conquest -- 4 in total!

Conquest was a small player killed off by the bigger players who control the inventory (read AC and TS). AC is flying home Conquest paxs who are at destination with a return booked on AC metal.

Conquest Vacations was a tour operator. Their packages included flights on AC, Skyservice, CanJet, WestJet and others. They did not resell packages of ACV (a competing tour operator).

I was in Cancun when Oasis Airlines (I think that was their name) went under. We had booked air only, since we were using a time share for accomodations. The Cdn government sent a plane to take us home! (And it was AC to boot.)

I was just glad Oasis went under after we were already in Mexico rather than before we left. I'm sure the Cdn govt wouldn't have flown us down for our vacation!

Oasis didn't fly to CUN.
Was it Canada 3000? Zoom?
