If you're looking for a unique atmosphere in the summer and enjoy Greek food, go anywhere down the Danforth (which is the extension of Bloor east of the Don Valley Parkway). During the summer, all the restaurants take advantage of the warmer weather and open their patios.

plus 2 ^

Though one night, when it was about - a zillion C, I ate at the Pickle Barrel because it was close to my hotel.

And of course, I also recommend the Danforth. It's fun just to walk down and choose your own restaurant.

Had a chance to dine at Loire, a small contemporary French bistro, which had some incredible food. Their lamb "burger" is the finest rendition I have had. Compact wine list with great atmosphere and food this is a good choice.

I also enjoyed Mercatto -- the one on Bay and Adelaide. Good pizzas and pastas and quite reasonable given the Bay Street location.

Anonna in the Park Hyatt was very decent as well -- the breakfasts are excellent and their dinners are pretty good. The fish special (swordfish and ahi tuna) was quite nice, if not a little heavy for a west coaster.

One by Mark McEwen, in teh Hazelton Hotel, serves probably the best eggs benny I have ever had. Well worth it!!

We usually don't dine often in French Bistros. But when we do, our favourite is Le Select on Wellington Street. Their pork rib is outstanding and my favourite item on their menu. Their cod fillet is also excellent.

Some of my personal favourites in Toronto.

http://www.terroni.ca/

Terroni has a couple locations. Atmosphere is informal and relaxed. The food is excellent.

http://www.tabule.ca/

Tabule is a great little Lebanese/Middle Eastern restaurant located just south of Eglinton on Yonge. Reasonable prices, great food.

http://www.addisababa.ca/

For something quite different. Addis Ababa is a cozy Ethiopian restaurant on Queen West West. Wonderful cooking.

None of these restaurants are fine dining by any means but they all serve great food and are nice places to have fun with family and friends.

Mrs Sweet Willie & I adore lamb, it is on our list to review/check out before we go!

I'm hoping some folks can help out with a good dim sum recommendation. I've heard some good things about a couple of dim sum places in the Markham area and seeing as we are spending a night quite close to Markham, makes sense to try one but always up for reviewing other's suggestions.

I've also never tried horse/cheval so am interested in trying this La Palette, anyone been?

...
1. Spring Villa, SE corner plaza of Woodbine and Denison. North of Steeles and South of John
2. Premier Banquet & Convention Centre, East side of Leslie north of Hwy7.
These are two places in Markham that I would treat an out of town guest to for dim sum.

If you are willing to venture into Scarborough then Dragon Dynasty at Brimley/Huntingwood is my choice for uptown.

Midtown there is Lai Toh Heen on Mt Pleasant south of Eglinton

Downtown there is Lai Wah Heen at Metropolitan Hotel, Chestnut and Dundas
