Applying for a passport in another province.

My mother lives in British Columbia but will be visiting me in Alberta in a few months. If her passport paperwork is all in order, can she drop it off at the passport office near where I live here in Calgary?

I can't imagine that the passport office cares a whit where she applies. She's very unlikely to have any problems.

Welcome to FT!

Since passports fall under federal jurisdiction, she should be able to apply at any Passport Canada office of her choosing ...

Just did this today. Went to the Winnipeg Passport office to drop off for myself and wife. No problems at all.

Line ups? What line ups?

The only problem is they will mail it to her home address registered mail so if she is with you in Alberta that will be a problem. I think you can make arrangements for pickup service for an extra fee so make sure she does that.

No, you can specify a different mailing address.
