Yep, actualy the 124 brought a part from Germany and the heli slung it in. There is a smaller Antonov (AN12)hauling to the mine.

I was with my young son at YUL a few weeks back, spotting aircraft, when I noticed it all the way over on the north-eastern apron near the hangers. Very impressive when you put it next to other wide-bodies!

Just saw what looked like an Antonov flying above - looks like it was ready to land - big blue and white bird with wings attached to the upper hull and 4 engines ... going in slow motion - pretty cool. Can anyone confirm this sighting and why it is in the area?

DND has rented an Antonov from time to time for specific heavy lift needs. It was all supposed to stop with the recent purchase of the Boeing C-17s. Perhaps all of the Boeings have not been delivered.

This relates to an IL76. There are similar incidents of the AN124 landing to soon or to long.

Are you sure? There is only one flying AN225 in the world. This is a 6 engine monster, not AN124 which has 4 engines.

By the way, I have never seen the AN124 at YYZ with my frequent trips to YYZ. I have seen AN124 more often at YWG.
