I agree with Stinger. YYZ may well be confusing for people like my parents and the signage is poor, but come on people, we are frequent flyers on this forum and everyone knows YYZ is going through a phased construction process, so we have to live with the inconvenience. It's the same with other airports. There is a lot to complain about at YYZ, but let's have some perspective.

There is a lot to complain about at YYZ, but let's have some perspective.

They are two seperate thoughts. YYZ T1 is a well designed airport. There are two types of problems: 1) those that are small and managable like signage, taxi lines, etc. and 2) the larger problems related to the phased constuction.
Although the first type of problems are manageable, I think the GTAA is out of touch and does not care about the customers. If they did these problems would be resolved. Try writing to them and see what kind of dismissive response you get. In any event, the original example raised was lack of information and signage. While this may be a problem for some travellers, it should not be a problem for frequent travellers.
AS for the major construction related problems, I agree that they are a pain in the butt. In fact, if I have to connect through YYZ from Europe to the US I try to arrange to go through YUL. However, these problems are not unusual in large airports and in airport expansions. The good thing is that we will see and end to it and when we do the airport's design will be praised. Meanwhile, we have to deal with it. But some of the comments on here that YYZ is the worst airport in the world, etc are really over the top. Like I said, some perspective is needed.

Are we stupid enough to think that any airport authority cares about the pax? I would hope not. I have seen instances all over Canada and the world of problems that could easily be prevented in the passengers were put first.
This includes all airports accross the country. YYZ has it's problems as does any major international airport that handles over 25 million pax. No other Canadian airport can be compared IMO as they don't handle the anywhere near the same amount of traffic.

Consultative Committee
The GTAA created the Consultative Committee (CC) as a forum for community involvement which meets three to four times a year. The CC deals primarily with economic development and planning matters, and provides a communication/consultation forum for community constituents to meet with GTAA management and staff, consistent with the requirements of the Toronto Pearson Ground Lease (Article 9.04):
"The GTAA shall, within six months of the transfer date, establish a community consultative committee to provide for effective dialogue and dissemination of information on matters relating to the Airport, including airport planning and plans, operational aspects of the Airport, and municipal concerns.

As far as signage there's basically nowhere you can stand in the airport and not be able to see a purple "Flight Connections" sign directing you to where to go to make your connection.
I've connected quite a few times in YYZ and I always spend 20 minutes wandering around lost trying to find where to go. The last time I asked someone for help he turned out to be equally lost. And this was entirely within T1, no bussing involved.
