Input please on US citizen leaving from Canada

We are going to Egypt next year and are thinking of flying from Canada for reasons of cost and convenience.

Any comments about anything we should keep in mind please?

I couldn’t find the perfect forum for this and since we are using Aeroplan points this seemed like the best place.

Thanks.

As long as you have the required documentation for your destination and any connection points on the way, there are no special considerations.

Are you planning to originate in Canada or connect in a Canadian airport?

Very obvious of course, but you do need to be admissible to Canada and have the documents required to do so. I know that even things such as a DUI a long time ago can make some people inadmissible.

No problems for me in that area, I have been in and through Canada numerous times.

I was just concerned if there was anything I needed to know about leaving via air from Canada for another country.

It seems as long as I have my passport and my visa for Egypt I am all set.

Thanks.

Canada used to be a jumping off point for U.S. citizens wishing to visit Cuba. Back in the day (>2-3 decades ago), flying to Cuba was essentially untraceable to U.S. authorities if tickets (and every else) were paid with cash.

Not reallly.

it’s been a long time since I’ve flown international froM YYZ, I’m typically Transborder, but CATSA (security) way more of a PITA than TSA - not even close. If you are willing to deal with that relatively minor inconvenience, all else being equal, shouldn’t be too much different. I assume your flight would be EgyptAir, which I definitely can’t speak to as I have no experience there.

also, on return, note, that baggage delivery is typically..umm..slow…across carriers IME. I’ve waited 90+ minutes at times (I wish I couldn’t say more than once, but that’s the truth). So dont plan for a quick exit on arrival
