Via Rail - Food pictures

I haven’t seen any threads dedicated to this topic so I figured I’d start one. Post any pictures of meals you’ve had on Via, both the good and the bad.

This was my dinner on train 59 from Ottawa to Toronto in business class. The main was mac and cheese with barbecue steak and Brussel sprouts, which was average. I really enjoyed the cheese plate and the dessert, which was a cheesecake.

Breakfast - Toronto to London

Business class breakfast. Photos were taken in January of this year. While breakfast isn’t the most exciting meal, this was all very delicious!

Breakfast - Toronto to Montreal

This is the breakfast that was served in business class. A Montreal bagel with cream cheese. Simple but good.

Lunch - Montreal to Toronto

I believe the main was a cod fillet. It was quite good. This was served in business class.

I’ve just done Via 1 from Toronto to Vancouver.
The food was fantastic!

This was the Transcontinental Breakfast.

I’ll update later, and I stupidly forgot to take a photo of the night 3’s Prime Rib!

Lunch - Toronto to London

My meal today in business class on train 73

This might have been the best food I’ve ever eaten on a corridor train! The artichoke pasta was cooked very nicely, came out piping hot, and was quite flavourful. Not to mention the excellent service from the Via staff.

The Canadian
Day 5

Breakfast while parked in Vancouver Station
We were in early, and have a must be off the train by 08:30. Again, breakfast is served on a turn up and go basis, but be reasonable as many people needed fed before 08:30!

Menu

Pancakes (for a change)

This was probably the weakest breakfast on the trip, but was still tasty.

Overall, my trip on The Canadian was absolutely amazing. How the Chefs manage to cook up very, very delicious food in a small space is commendable.
I'd have had less transcontinentals, If I knew what the menus were in advance, which is my only comment about the food.

I am a solo traveller, and being put at a table with a change of traveller most days was good, although a few of the other passengers did have to suffer me more for more than one meal!

The food on the Canadian isn't cooked, it's catered.
Yes there is warming and a small amount of cooking involved.
But you weren't at a restaurant.
