Romancing in Montreal

Going to be in Mtl. this weekend with wifey. Going to be staying and walking around old port. watching a classical candlelight quartet perform Vivaldi. Any restaurants to keep that mood going? Also, and possibly even more requested, any good, relaxing wine bars?

Would love all recommendations.

try dining in the dark

Years ago, we went en famille to a rest in Montreal where you dine in darkness. Looking it up today, there is one estabishment (Onoir) which offerrs this + employd blind staff. Neat!

Hotel Nelligan is my favorite. Old rustic rooms. Beautiful bar lounge. And the rooftop lounge is one of the most poplar places in the city. Plus it is in old Montreal so its perfect for going on nice walks along the cobblestone roads. Hands down my favorite recommendation!

I like Hotel Bonaparte. Excellent food at their restaurant.

Barroco, 312 Saint-Paul St W, Montreal, Quebec H2Y 2A3
located in a very old historic building

More youthful and fun, Jellyfish. The owner is very hands on and present

My favorite restaurant for over 50 years - Gibby's in Old Montreal.

Ask to sit in the main dining room on the main floor, and not the one in the lower level.

I know I'm a bit late to the party but for anyone stumbling onto this thread a bit later you should definitely check out vinvinvin. Definitely one of those places that a lot of locals go to. Also I would argue it's a pretty authentic Montreal experience, the place and the neighbourhood.
