I arrived into YVR on 23 Dec.

On arrival, we were split into two queues after baggage reclaim. Queue A = selected for testing. Queue B = not selected for testing. I was in Queue A. It seemed like they were assigning this based on your immigration form, and there were a lot of BA85 passengers selected for testing.

Pre-register for testing if you can - the queue seemed to be shorter - but you need a Canadian phone number (which I don't have). You still need to go to one of the pre-registration desks but it seemed quicker.

If you don't pre-register, you can be registered by one of the staff there at one of the registration desks. This process was quick although the queue for this was longer.

After the registration / pre-registration desks, you go to a booth where they take a swap and then you are free to go out (for quarantine).

I was out of the airport in around 1.5 hrs from disembarking although my baggage took quite a long time.

I received my result 24 hours after testing by email. You have to login to their portal to get the result.

I hope this helps.

Thinking about this from any sort of rational cost benefit analysis, this makes zero sense, taking vaccinated passengers who have just had a test prior to flying in, and then subjecting them to THIS.

There is nothing in Canada other than visiting friends or family that would make me view this as being worth the cost and expense. I'll take a giant pass.

I'm Canadian living in US. In all my experiences, entering US is way easier than Canada, by way of land and air. This is during pre-pandemic time. I was always asked with a barrage of questions from Canadian border officers for about 5 mins, with headscratcher like "Why are you coming to Canada?", while US CBP would take a look at my passport and wave me through.
