I've just completed my dumbest routing ever on my way home last Saturday. Flew BWI-ORD-BUF, then drove from BUF to YXU. I crossed the border at the Lewiston-Queenston bridge. The chat with the CBSA officer only took few minutes. He was interested if I was working the whole time during my stay in the USA (I was). He accepted the CVS test results without any problems. At the end of the chat I was deemed essential. Despite that, I still had to take the Covid test at the border. Too bad I can't use the day 8 test as my pre-departure test, but at that time I'll be already doing my customer required 3 day quarantine at STX.
Covid testing at BUF: They have a sampling booth set up right by the luggage carousels. The price list can be found here: https://wnyrapidtesting.com/ The ladies at the booth told me that one test is missing from the list. They called it the "Canadian test". It is a rapid NAAT and it costs $225. Considering that the CVS test is not free either and I had problems paying for it, I wish I knew about it before. |

1. Testing at BUF - any idea how long they say the NAAT test takes to get results? (Since it's not on the website) 2. Can you elaborate on the payment problems with the CVS test, I was planning to do the same, so just wanted to make sure it's as smooth as possible. Thanks! |

Long waits to connect with a Switch Health nurse combined with weekend pickup/delivery service hour can lead to delays that extend past the end of the 14 days. My test results took 4 days.

Can you add a little color here - I'm doing similar in a few weeks for the first time (NYC-BUF-car service to YYZ).

The CVS web portal requires a full billing address that can't be Canadian. I don't have an American credit card, so I had to ask the customer to pay for the test. |
Yes, you can still get a rental "car"
So... Just read an article today about lack of rental vehicles in Hawaii, and visitors resorting to U-Haul.
Guess what... They are also available for one way from cities in NY to Canada in case the Buffalo limousine isn't your thing. ;) |
Given this ruleYou must: take a test before you leave the United States within 72 hours of your entry into Canada (your test must be performed in the United States)
Does anyone know if a test taken in USVI or Puerto Rico would be sufficient? Who do I call to find out? |

trying to find a way to get from SEA to Vancouver next Saturday May 8th.
The only thing I could find is limo for $500+ that takes me straight home. I guess taxi to the border and getting another taxi on the Canadian side is another option. Any suggestions/recommendations welcome! |

I’m a college student moving back to Vancouver in mid-May. Haven’t had luck booking any car rentals from SEA to YVR the last couple of weeks. Is there any car or taxi services that anyone can recommend to this newbie? Thanks for your help!

I've been thinking about how to do this for a trip in late June too (since most car rental companies seem to have turned off ability to do one way cross-border rentals). I found Yellow Cabs (https://www.yellowcabinc.com/cab-fares.html) which quotes $249 from BLI to downtown Vancouver, and Evergreen ( https://www.evergreentowncarbellingham.com/ ) but I haven't called them for a quote yet. I may end up doing a one way car rental to BLI (~$40-50 with corporate rate) and then using Yellow Cab which would be ~$300ish total. Which limo company did you get your quote from?
evergreen you need to reserve with them early (a couple of weeks), they quoted: $450 + gratuity (15-20%) for a sedan if you can get to BLI, bellingham taxi (https://taxibellingham.com/) quoted $60 to the border, $275 to my home in the Tri City area. |

Please move this if we're in the wrong thread.
We crossed at the Peace Bridge today into Canada after driving in our own car from FL. The crossing was simple and as described many times here. Heres a few additional points. We got our RT PCR tests in FL as we left. As we approached the bridge to cross (still on the US side) there was a road block with 5 cops. Don't know what kind of cops. They waved us thru I assume because we had ON plates. While chatting with the Canadian customs officer I noticed a US taxi pulled over and being searched. Didn't really see the occupants. Lastly, we are both on the same SwitchHealth account. |
