YYZ layover time?

No GE/Nexus, not a US citizen.

For SFO > YYZ > YYT flight, is 1.5hr layover enough if with checked bag? Was looking to book UA 1164 + AC 690.

Returning with same route, I assume I would need at least a couple of hours layover?

Is this a single ticket? Like bought at once? Its all the same terminal so pretty easy but far too tight if separate tickets imo.

Return yes, youll clear immigration so may take a little bit. Still 90 mins might meet MCT.

Winter might cause longer delays, and consider what flight options available if it goes wrong. Id consider OMW as have zero faith in AC taking care of me but not sure if thats abailabke on a share and assumes you are buying from AC and not UA?

Thanks for the response!

Yes it would be a single ticket. I am looking to purchase through United.com since I have a travel certificate.

Also this is for travel in July, so hopefully minimal chance of weather-related delays?

Its down to the risk you accept, I have done many 90 min connections BA-WS on LHR-YYZ-YQT and made all but one, once the flight had a small delay and made it in 40 mins (however that included a lot of running).

im willing to take the risk as it starts from the UK so if I miss the connection it falls under EU261

EC261 is awesome if your delays is 3h+, not due to a circumstance the airline can claim is extraordinary, and if the UK is still going to enforce is post Brexit which may or may not occur before the OP flies.

Theres also the whole we got you to Canada ... so does your onward issue get covered if not on an EU airline. Thats a grey area too.

Just ensure you arent on the last flight of the day and check travel insurance. Is my two cents. EC261 is a nice bonus IF feasible and screwed up.

Brexit makes no effect as EU261 has also been enshrined into UK law.

In regards to we got you to Canada, its pretty black and white i have had no issues whatsoever, as the only BA connections to YYZ will be the last WS flight of the day, if the flight makes you late enough to fall below MCT, the airline has no choice but to pay out.

I've missed a few times but nothing can be done due to the schedules, however i get my EU261 (with the exception of weather) and hotel (even for weather related).

Never had to contact insurance on a flight to Canada, BA even pays for hotel, however flying from Canada to the UK, i have (when the first leg was WS).

I realize you are trying to use a United certificate, but if you can get on AC metal from SFO-YYZ then your bag will be checked through to YYT and you won't have to pick it up in YYZ. If you are flying UA metal, you will need to wait for it to come out of the carousel in YYZ and clear customs with it.
