US Homeland Computers are down...PreClearance is also a problem
The computers used by US Homeland Security for processing immigration seem to have gone down and causing chaos at US airports for international arriving passengers and at Canadian (and other countries') airports with PreClearance. So if you have flights to the US tomorrow morning, get to the airport extra early...even with Global Entry or NEXUS...and fill out a card just in case if you still have any.

Just went through ATL. Officers said the line had been 3-4hrs at points. Lines snaked all way around the long hallway before customs plus upstairs. Airlines came thru announcing they were NOT able to hold flghts.
Every aspect was down including preclearance, Global Entry and the self serve free kiosks. It took 3-5min PER PERSON for an agent to manually clear people. (I have a funny feeling a good part of the process may have been to log data in Excel or Notepad and manual judgment calls).
We made our connection by waiting at the "useless" global entry machines. GE had no flight database or option to find/add flight... We could either choose cancel/abort, or select that we had piloted private flights.
Thousands of bags spinning on the conveyor belts, but few if any passeners in baggage claim to pick them up

NBC reports system is up again. Should only be affecting final US bound flights out of YVR at this hour so tomorrow morning should be okay.
