Uber From YYZ to the City - Possible?
Not a lot of concrete answers online about this - can I use the Uber app to book a car from the airport to my destination, and if so, does anyone have any experience with the rates and how they compare to the taxi or limo services?

Good grief, they charge double the non-reserved limo rate and more than double the non-reserved taxi rate.

When I arrive earlier in the evening, I always take the Go Bus to York Mills and connect to a local bus to my parent's place - but for a very late night arrival like this, I will just grab the first available taxi or limo. I was hoping Uber was cheaper, but it appears to be the opposite.

2) Rode in filthy, noisy cabs driven by incomprehensible, lost, rude drivers
3) Stood in poor-serviced locations far from home, with no sense as to how to get a cab
...to name but three.
A few months ago I stood here: http://tinyurl.com/k9fbcsn
...needing to get to the airport. An Uber car was there in 5 minutes, and I watched him arrive on my phone.
How would I have even known who to call for a cab?

The Uber comments above reflected my experience where Uber is much better in Dallas, Maryland, Austin, Houston, NYC...

I don't need Uber in Vancouver - I know how to get a cab and they're usually pretty good. The drivers are often lost (as they often are in Toronto) but I can direct them.

Haven't done this myself (yet), but you could get an uberX by placing the pin on the map outside of the airport area. Then message/call the driver to tell him you're actually at the airport and ask to be picked up from there.

I know someone who took the train to parking garage, walks to alt hotel and gets picked up there on uber x.
Just seems like a extra hassle but than again I am usually expensing trips to the airport.
