Edmonton - good wifi or ESPN3

I will be in Edmonton this Friday.

Optimistically... I was hoping to watch the Euroleague Final Four - 10 am in Edmonton. It looks like it'll be broadcast on ESPN3.

So - would be grateful to get any ideas about where I would be able to watch ESPN3 at 10 am in the morning... OR alternatively, where is the fastest wifi hotspot I could find at that time ? (apparently wifi at the hotel where I booked is not stellar)

Thanks

D.

I think Sportsnet carries all of the Europa League games... in the unlikely event that your hotel room doesn't offer that network, most any sports bar likely will.

I can't say for sure, but you may have issues watching ESPN3 online in Canada.

I just checked ahead and there isn't anything like that on Sportsnet or TSN on Friday.

Unless you get a VPN with US IP you will not be able to stream many US online broadcasts.

Nothing on TSNs nor Sportnets. But it is available on BeIN Sport which is specialty channel and you need Bell TV subscriber to add it to your subscription.

I just checked the Sportsnet website and it says the final is on Wednesday:

12:30pm-3:00pm Sportsnet West UEFA Europa League Soccer: Final - Benfica v Sevilla
12:30pm-3:00pm Sportsnet World UEFA Europa League Soccer: Final - Benfica v Sevilla

Do I have the right league here??

When I looked up Euroleague Final Four, it showed a basbetball tournament, and the times match up for Friday to what the OP is asking.

That's right, the Euroleague final four basketball championship.
http://www.euroleague.net/
Biggest European basketball of the year - which unfortunately is trumped by any NBA/NHL/LFL/peewee curling event in N American broadcasting

Looks like it's espn3 only

Euroleague, Europa League... who knew there was a difference?

If ESPN3 doesn't work in Canada in the same way that hulu doesn't work here, there is always the good old trusty atdhe pirate feed which works remarkably well. They carry a pretty broad array of international sports feeds.

vive la petite difference....

I must admit to not having heard of atdhe. Does it not freeze up during major events when everyone tries to connect ?

I have never tried to watch any mega-events on it, but on the occasions I've used it to catch something or other it usually holds up quite well. At least if you can't access ESPN3 it's there as a backup.

Watching ESPN3 is impossible for Canadians living in Canada, and a pain for visiting Americans. Since it's not available on TV at all, there are none of those sketcky online feeds you can usually find for regular TV channels. You need an American cable provider AND a US IP address. As a Canadian, the only way I can watch is by borrowing a generous American friend's cable log-in info and by downloading a US VPN. I use TunnelBear (not sure if it's a VPN or something else, but it works!), which is super reliable and ridiculously easy to use. This system is awful : even an American in the US needs a cable subscription with a company that's recognized by ESPN in order to access the stream. Annoying when it's a major competition, like in NCAA gymnastics where the one and only meet they broadcast is Nationals, thus making the most important meet of the year unavailable for a good portion of the fans
