Just a reminder: where are you flying in from, where are you flying to and your travel document/natonality will cut into the total hours that you will actually have.

Good point. Flying in from Boston, out to Halifax en route to London. One UK citizen, one US. I'm figuring an hour to get out of the airport and an hour to get back in leaving 4 hours for 'stuff' including travel to and from the airport.

Sounds like you will be looking for a late lunch - I suggest Olive et Gourmando at the corner of St.Pierre and St. Paul in Old Montreal. Hip, popular, excellent food (salads, sandwiches, superb cappucino) and inexpensive - listed in McLean's Top 50 Restaurants in Canada.

Obviously the drive time for bus and car is pretty similar but I'm thinking about waiting for the bus, (there and back) and waiting for the metro (there and back). Would that add more delay than picking up a rental car and looking for parking near Old Montreal?

Any recommendations for a good place to eat around Old Montreal? Not too expensive but a decent representation of local fare.

Thanks for your help
Mitch
Brasero Hardi is a newish place and one of the more reasonably-priced trendy spots in Old Montreal. Most of the spots you'll find in the area are tourist traps -- they under-wow with their overpriced menus. This place has great food, an excellent atmosphere and an incredible bar. Just remember that you have to drive back

Edit: Didn't realize this place opens at 5:30... won't work for you, sorry! Maybe just stop in for a drink on your way back to the airport. If you're on the road by 6:00-6:15 you'll easily make your 8pm flight.

Just need some reassurance

7 hrs, 45 min connection.

US citizen flying from EWR to YQB. I can do a non stop routing but thought for a bit more I can do lunch in Old City.

It would be a Sunday so I presume that makes it easier.

Yup I second Olive et Gourmando. Excellent place for lunch. Look out though there is usually a very long cue. Also if in the Mile End Ramados is very good. Do not go to Schwartz biggest tourist trap ever….

Go to the Main deli across the street from Schwartz for good smoked meat, none of that Nickels crap from across the street.

I guess a lot can change in 2 years! Too bad, it had a great cocktail list and good food at a good price. Maybe that was the problem
