It will be 4 weeks on next Wednesday.. 
. I have signed up for both myself and my husband, and my two kids all seperately ....all four of us are still pending review . From what I have been reading here it seems pretty speedy... so wonder what is going on with our applications or if there is a huge backlog they are working on...

You should definitely write to the ombudsman if you don't get anything back by Wednesday.
Common reasons why its taking so long: extensive travel history (to "exotic" destinations), long record of employers / residence, or your name (especially common ones) may show up on some databases as a false-positives, so they are trying to rule everything out.
