YYZ (T3) - DTW. Need some guidelines
Hey everybody,
it may sound weired for some of you, but i'm having my first flight to the US ever.
My trip starts tomorrow in YYZ Terminal 3 via Delta Connection to DTW.
I already found out that Customs & immigration will be completed in Toronto, so the flight itself is considered as domestic flight.
I could not find out how the procedure on the airport is going exactly.
I have already checked in online, printed my boarding pass and paid for the checked luggage (not even this is for free anymore!).
How is it going on the Airport? Do i have to go to a Kiosk to print the label for my luggage, or do i have to get to a normal check-in counter?
As far as i heard i have to go to a "Check-In"-Desk to get my luggage weight and proceed then to customs and immigration and drop my luggage off later?
Afterwards security check (is CATSA or TSA doing that?) and off to the plane.
I'm not in the best mood in the morning so i try to figure everything out as good as possible so i don't run into something unexpected tomorrow morning.

When you get to YYZ T3, you'll need to do the following:
1. Since you printed your boarding pass, you can go straight to the DL check-in counter. Show the agent your boarding pass, and they will weigh your bags, tag them, and give you the white customs form you need to fill out.
2. You'll take your bag(s) and customs form over to customs & immigration(C&I), and go through the process there.
3. After C&I, there will be a conveyor belt for you to drop your bag. Drop it.
4. Go through the metal detector.
5. Go to the DL gate. If memory serves, you'll need to take a shuttle bus inside security to get to the DL gates; it's all well-marked.

Corrections:
1 The custom declaration form is blue. You must have this form completed before entering the lineup to C&I.
4. It is no longer just a metal detector, CATSA can be very time consuming or very quick, there is no consistency. Shoes off, computer out, liquid <100ml in clear ZipLoc bag.
At least you are not held up by the vacationing passengers by flying out weekday morning.
5. DL connections flights usually leaves from gate B12 to B14, just down the long corridor post security past the bar. There is no need to take any shuttle.

so the online checkin and boarding pass print will not speed up anything as i have to stand in line at the counter anyways?

@tentseller: Thanks, i've planned 3 hours at the airport - depending on the taxiride to the airport (that highway i have to go is stuck every morning)

Normally, you'd have to go to a kiosk first to get your boarding pass, then to the counter to get the bag tag; you'll be able to skip the kiosk part. So there's a couple of minutes saved, but certainly not much.

The 3 hours are recommended by the Airport - and i'd be better early than too late
i got most of my expenses paid anyway, so a sandwich would not kill me (moneywise)
Yes i was thinking about going by car when i planned my trip with my companys travel agency and they were unable to get me prices for a rental car within a resonable time and the flight is really cheap. I would have loved to drive down to Detroit but thats life. I do get a lot what i wanted for my travels so when one thing fails i'm not complaining about that.

If your company can't get you a rental car, try Via train to Windsor. Less lineup, no CATSA crap, Wifi all the way

sitting at the gate - ready for boarding.
that went way faster than i thought.
Everything took me 1h 30mins including a 40min Cab ride (yes one of the 4xx Highways East towards Toronto.
so all in all 50minutes for check-in, immigration and customs and a cigarette in advance
