Vegas Scam

I rent all the time from Budget, multiple times a month, but I have never seen a more screwed up operation than the Budget Airport location. This is not the first time this has happened, I prepaid my reservation for a Thurs - Mon rental using coupon code MUWZ166 which gives my $20 off. The prepaid reservation went through, it took the coupon and gave me the discounted rate with the coupon applied. So I fly in yesterday and go to the fastbreak counter and my name isn't on the board. I ask why not and I'm told well we don't take those coupons here, so we had to redo your reservation without the coupon which of course is total BS. On top of that without any authorization they reran my card at the higher rate without the coupon. So anyway I had to ..... a fit and they finally gave me the original rate again but their is no reason I needed to go through any of that. If they took the coupon and accepted my payment then they should have honored it. Today (Friday) I check my credit card account, they've reversed the higher charge but now I have multiple authorizations for $100 on my card from them which I know (at least 1 anyway) is supposed to be the deposit. One of them is from Avis who I don't even rent from. Anyway, they seem like complete morons there attempting some pathetic bait and switch tactic. Then they tried to lay out the BS that they couldn't take the coupon because it only applies to intermediate or higher cars which is totally wrong for that coupon and the website wouldn't have taken it anyway if that really was the case. They've lost my business forever at that location, everywhere else they are fine, it's only the Vegas airport that plays these stupid games. I called corporate to complain and the customer service person was a total moron too and she was no help whatsoever. I explained what had happened to her and she couldn't comprehend that Budget.com had accepted my $20 coupon even though I had been emailed a confirmation with it applied right after made my reservation online. I asked her since the Vegas nitwits went in and modified without permission my reservation and make it look like the total was $115 why did I only prepay $91? that would be impossible to do on their website unless they accepted and applied a coupon which of course they did. She kept saying well I don't know if you really did use that coupon. So anyway, that was a total waste of time talking to that moron. Anyone else have these kind of bait and scams not taking coupons attempts at the Vegas airport location even though your reservation went through with it?

To be honest, most money off coupons do require compact/mid size and above. Also its worth mentioning that Budget LAS is not a corporate location.

Here are that coupons terms as well.

Yes but this coupon is good for any class size, I use them regularly at other locations. The point is if the location doesn't accept the coupon then the Budget website shouldn't take the coupon or accept your payment. They also had no right or authorization to run my card for a higher rate that I didn't agree too.

Wow. I'd complain to the BBB and give them a black eye for trying to change the rate.

Did you read the contract terms? It's possible that they run the card for potential costs (like most hotels): Possibly "Rate + $x" or "Rate + x%" to ensure you can cover fuel/damages/etc. Not a guarantee but it's possible if their T&C state it.

Even if you prepaid, they would have charged a deposit of $100 to $200 per T&C. Also, normally when you prepay online, the reservations can only be modified through Budget.com or customer service.

If you have your printout or conformation email, i don't see why you have just contacted customer service to get them to honor, which they will.

I rent a car in vegas about 6 times per year, and have had a negative experience with Budget the last 2 times i rented there. I have moved my business to other companies.

Budget LAS is a licensee but uses the Budget Corporate System. I too had this same thing happen there over a year ago where I used a coupon, it was on my initial contract, but then when I returned it was not on my receipt anymore. Upon examining my receipt they gave me, I noticed a different RA number and also a different daily rate (by very little). I went to the booth in the garage, presented my initial reservation and the initial contract, and the receipt I was given by the check in attendant, and the issue was corrected almost immediately. I did not ask questions but it was clear the clerk knew very clearly how to fix these types of things.

Vegas Scam

Interesting. I just did a prepaid rental where my final receipt said I had over-prepaid by 95 cents. Unfortunately, there is no indication that a refund will be issued. Other than that, this rental was flawless.
