IDP needed for Budget in Germany?
Hi all,
I made a Budget car rental booking in Germany, and noticed that the contract states "International license is required unless driver has a license issued within the European Community. " Avis, which is the same company in Germany, does not have this requirement in their contracts for US citizens.
Is this policy enforced? Which policy holds for a rental from Munich Airport booked through Budget, but to be picked up from an Avis desk?
I also noticed this strange clause: "Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) includes Theft Protection (TP). Customer may be asked to leave damage responsibility as a deposit if CDW is not taken. Damage responsibility if CDW is not taken: All vehicles - Full Value. " Does this mean if one uses a Visa's free CDW coverage, a deposit of the full car value (maybe 30,000 Euroo) may really be needed?
Thanks for your help!
