Does Costco BCD W852800 require a Costco card

The title says it all. Do I need to have a costco card to use the BCD W852800 code.

If it makes a difference this is for a rental in San Juan Puerto Rico.

I've searched but can't find the answer here.

Thanks..

I've used the code a lot and have never been asked to produce my card. One time I was asked if I worked for Costco but that was all.

Then perhaps you should refer to Budget's rental site itself, which clearly states, if this BCD is input during the reservation process:

Budget welcomes Costco members! To secure these special rates, you'll need to present your Costco membership card when picking up your vehicle.

It appears that Budget is extremely lax in enforcing this requirement, and thus many non-COSTCO folks are accorded a COSTCO benefit without paying for a membership.

Stops me

That's what stops me from using it.
What do I do if they ask for it.
I could be stuck with a much higher rate or no rental at all

Here's a wild and crazy thought...

Why don't you join Costco, then you'll have a Costco card, then you'll be complying with Budget's clearly stated rule, and you won't need to sweat about getting "caught"

cuse

beCUSE the nearest Costco to me is three hours away it makes no economic sense for the few dollars I would save.
otherwise I would switch from Sams club in a minute.
So I just do not use the code
