Indeed, the old cards are 1 point per £2.00, not 0.5 per £1 as I expressed it. But the £4 steps for points are far worse than £2 steps, both for minimum transactions and rounding. Never mind the worse earning rate.

Correct (and to clarify, you also only get 1 point per £4 spent INSIDE Tesco as well).

But then you have the tesco pre-paid card which earns you double points. i.e 2 for every pound.

so you would have to spend £125 to get 250 points which would equate to 600 miles. on your BA Amex you would need to spend £400 to get 600 miles correct?

the clubcard plus - pre-paid card (which was never advertised for some reason) was withdrawn this week to new applicants (the day before I called to get one )

Still on sale at Tesco Enfield at £16.98 a bottle this lunchtime. Scans at £26.98 at check-out, A price check by the assistant confirmed that the reduced price offer ended on 21/22 July but they never removed the sticker. Got 6 at £16.98 and 800 points per bottle^

Now if you'd have been a true Tesco fanatic you'd have also go double the difference - which I think would have been an extra tenner back per bottle!!!!

Double the difference would surely have been £20 per bottle.

Twas a good trade.

Never saw any cheap perfume in my tescos, so bought 4 Now73 CDs netting 250pts each. Sold them in 2hrs on eBay for a £3 loss. So £12 for 3200 BAMiles.

Was going to go back for another bunch given that I could have reduced the loss to £2 per CD, but offer not on anymore.

Question Help Please - a little confused

Hi, I'm sure someone on this very impressive knowledge board can help me.

I'm about to buy a new TV and blu-ray etc.

Am I better to buy it from John Lewis at BA e-store (as I suspect) or from Tescos with a clubcard?
The price is pretty similar - within £30 all-in for what I'm after (Samsung LED 40" and Blu-ray 5.1 cinema ++), except that I would get a £50 voucher from Tesco.

Example at £1600 spend:
If I use e-store:
John Lewis @ 4 BAm/£1 = 4x1600 = 6400 BA miles

If I use Tesco (new clubcard holder so 600mile rate??)
£1600 = 1600 cc points = 6.4 "lots" of 250 points = 6.4x600 = 3840 BA miles

1. Have I worked this out correctly?
2. Is there a better way of spending my £1600 to get more miles? (I do also want the TV, so spending the £1600 on a J return isn't on the cards )

Thanks in advance

You could sign up for the BA AMEX card instead AND book through the e-store - that's what I do. You'll end up with another 2400 points plus the sign up bonus for first spend.

Yes, sorry, needless to say, I'll pay for it on BAAX regardless of where I buy it. This purchase will also clinch this year's 241

(Unlike the last multi leg J ticket I bought, when the travel agent decided, about 1/2 hour before I left to go to the airport for the first sector that they didn't want to accept Amex anymore)

Is the TV at tesco's available from Tesco Direct? If so, I think they have a double points offer on at the moment. You may also get a £50 grocery voucher. Just checked - they're also doing 1000 bonus points for TV's over £400. So...

1600 + 1600 + 1000 = 4200 points = 10,080 miles!!
Plus £50 voucher.

Cool. Yes, just checked and they do indeed have double points + 1000 for that model (and a £50 voucher and a free Sky HD box).

Just in case anyone's watching this thread, the double points offer runs out August 9th (which is probably whne the price comes down

I think I may seperate the deal and buy the blu-ray bits from e-store/John Lewis. I'll get the 500 bonus miles for that, too.

Too tired to work it all out now and I have an early meeting tomorrow here in sunny Torino - I'll work it all out when I get home tomorrow.

Just the sort of fantastic ideas and knowledge I was after.

Thanks qrpory

That £50 voucher will go nicely towards 2 bottles of the fizzy stuff @ 800 CC points a piece if you can exchange it for food & drink. Nice!
